Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight it’s the TV taping after No Surrender from St Louis, MO. Last week after winning the Bound for Glory Series, AJ Styles had choice words for TNA President Dixie Carter. What will Styles have to say tonight as Styles confronts Dixie Carter? After horrible beat down of Mr. Anderson, what will the TNA Champion; Bully Ray have to say about his actions last week? Last week, Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez challenge the TNA Tag Team Champions; “The Cowboy” James and Gunner to a match for the titles. Can Chavo and Hernandez defeat Storm and Gunner to earn a title shot? Tonight TNA X Division Champion; Manik faces Jeff Hardy in a non-title match and ODB challenges Mickie James for the TNA Knockouts title. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Matches

Jeff Hardy pins Manik in a non-title match

ODB pins Mickie James to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion

Eric Young pins Robbie E.

Joseph Park pins Robbie E.

Gunner pins Hernandez

EGO (Christopher Daniels, Kazarian & Bobby Roode) defeat Main Event Mafia (Sting, Samoa Joe & Magnus)

 No Impact

Bro This Was A Bad Idea Because We’re Getting Our Asses Kicked!!!

Are you F@cking kidding me TNA? Two matches that lasted no more than five minutes. What was the point of even having the matches if they were only going to two minute matches? I get that TNA is trying to setup a feud between Bro Mans and Eric Young and Joseph Park which I’m sure I’ll be hating on that tag team but I think TNA could have done a better job setting up this feud. Especially having the Bro Mans interrupting ODB celebrating winning the Knockouts title for a fourth time.  I guess on the bright side at TNA is giving Robbie E something to do Bro!

OK Impact

And You Are The X Division Champion?!?!

Hardy vs. Manik wasn’t a bad match but it should have been a longer match as I think it would have been better if the match went longer. There here couple points during the match I thought that Manik at times were a tab sloppy which most fans most likely didn’t realize but in the ring with someone like Jeff Hardy, Manik should have been on his on his game. I will say that Hardy looked good as he was on the offense for most of the match. I wonder if TNA is going to use Hardy in the X Division or this was a onetime thing with Hardy.

Chavo, I Don’t Think This Is A Good Idea

Ok, we were expecting it to be a tag team match but we got was Gunner and Hernandez going one on one. This came about because Chavo claimed that he was injured and couldn’t wrestle in a tag team match. It was an ok match with Gunner and Hernandez having some good spots during the match. Gunner hit a very good slingshot suplex which was impressive considering how big Hernandez is. Hernandez had a few good spots hitting a delayed backbreaker and Air Mexico on Gunner. Gunner got the win over Hernandez hitting Rock Bottom across the knee which was a very good move. Don’t be surprise to see Chavo and Hernandez vs. Storm and Gunner for the TNA Tag Team titles at Bound for Glory.

High Impact

I Might Be A Dick But At Least I Have A Hot Girlfriend!

I was thinking that TNA was getting ready to build a feud between Chris Sabin and Velvet Sky against Bully Ray and Brooke Tessmacher but TNA threw us a curveball that I didn’t see coming by turning Sabin “Heel.” I kind got a hint of the “Heel” turn while Sabin was talking with Manik in the back with Velvet Sky by his side. I liked how Sabin kept referring to the fact how great he is running off his credentials of being a 6 time TNA Division Champion, TNA Tag Team Champion and TNA World Heavyweight Champion to Manik. I thought at the end of the match that Sabin was come into the ring and attack Hardy but Sabin waited and attacked Manik after Hardy left the ring. Hardy came back to the ring to save Manik as Sabin bailed from the ring. During all of this, Velvet acted like she didn’t know what gotten into Sabin. I see a “Heel” turn from Velvet very soon which will be interesting as TNA only has four active Knockouts and two of them are already “Heels” I expect that we’ll Sabin vs. Hardy at Bound for Bound which should a damn good match.

Mickie’s Swan Song

I was really hoping that ODB vs. Mickie James would be good and I wasn’t disappointed. I knew that ODB was going to win the Knockouts title because of all the reports and Facebook friends messaging me about Mickie’s contract in TNA being up. Mickie and ODB traded blows at the beginning of the match with ODB hitting a nice spear and a fall away slam on Mickie. Mickie had some very good spots during the match with a face plant buster and later Mickie was working on ODB on the outside of the ring with ODB being stuck inside the ring apron curtain. I liked when Mickie high five Taz telling Taz “That’s how it’s done.” Mickie would later hit a reverse RKO and great spinning heel kick. However ODB reverses Mickie’s attempt at the Mickie DDT and hit a Samoan Drop to pin Mickie and become the new TNA Knockouts Champion. If this was Mickie’s last match in TNA then I have to say that it was a damn good match. For more on my thoughts of Mickie leaving TNA; check my article “Mickie James: The Greatest Women’s Wrestler Today” which is up on the site now.

Is This Impact Wrestling Or A BDSM Porno DVD!?!?

I actually liked the “Aces & Eights” segment because it actually made good sense storyline wise. I like how Brisco, Bischoff and Knux stood up to Bully Ray after Bully Ray said that he own everything to Brooke Tessmacher since was “Aces & Eights” that helped Bully Ray keep and regain the TNA title. I think Bully Ray trying to intimidate Brisco, Bischoff and Knux was well done and Bully Ray came across as dominating asshole. I was laughing my ass off when Knux said “Bros before Ho’s” which got the crowd in St Louis chanting “Ho” at Brooke. I think it’s going to be interesting to see where this angle is going to go as Mr. Anderson’s contract has expired and no deal has been reached far as I know. It’s possible that Anderson will come back and lead the “Aces & Eights” against Bully Ray but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

At Least I Don’t Have To Wear A Shirt When I Wrestle!

I’m really like the EGO group of Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Bobby Roode as these three are the best “Heels” and shown why EGO is going to be the “Heel” staple on the TNA roster. I thought it was good have having Joe and Magnus in for the beginning of the match working together double teaming on Kazarian and following Sting to take over until Daniels trips Sting allowing Kazarian gain control of the match. Now Daniels, Kazarian and Roode take turns working Sting with quick tags. Sting gets the hot tag but the referee doesn’t allow the tag as he didn’t see it to the dismay of Magnus and Joe. Sting finally gets to make the hot tag to Magnus who goes to town on Daniels, Kazarian and Roode until thing really break down with everyone coming in nailing each other as Sting hitting a double clothsline on both Daniels and Kazarian while Roode hits a spike DDT on Sting. Toward the end of the match, Sting hits the Stinger Splash on Daniels and locks in the Scorpion Deathlock on Daniels. Roode goes to hit Sting with bat but hits Magnus instead and pins Magnus to get the win for his team leaving Magnus distraught in the ring with Sting and Joe standing beside him.

I Has A 5 Star Match Last Week Bitch!!!!

What can I say about Styles promo but that it was phenomenal no pun intended. Styles was saying thing that TNA fans have been saying for years by mentioning guys like Jerry Lynn, Low-Ki, Pety Williams and Alex Shelly for a few being let go for MMA and guys  who needed a 2 year paid vacation to do absolutely nothing and go back where they belong which I think was a shot at Rob Van Dam who Styles was booked to drop the TNA title to back in 2010. I liked how Styles talked about he was pissed off by the way Dixie Carter has been running TNA into the ground and that he’s going to win the TNA title at Bound for Glory and then Dixie will be on her knees begging which Styles says then he’ll make Dixie pay. We saw the “Heel” of Dixie Carter as Dixie went off Styles that he’s just slightly better than average and that’s all he’ll be no matter where he wrestles. Dixie takes things up a notch by saying she can’t remember the last time that Styles actually had a 5 Star match which is of course is silly especially the two matches that Styles had with Austin Aries during the Bound for Glory Series. Having Dixie kill Styles mic and killing the light was a nice touch as it helps getting Dixie over in her “Heel.” Everything was done right during this segment and makes you want to tune in next week to see what’s going to happen next.

Show Rating: 7 ½

Final Thought

This week’s Impact Wrestling was good but not as good as last week’s show. We had two ok matches with Hardy vs. Manik and Gunner vs. Hernandez while we two damn good matches in ODB vs. Mickie James and The Main Event vs. EGO. We saw two “Heel” turns in the form of Chris Sabin and Dixie Carter who I think will do ok with this “Heel” turn in time. EGO showed tonight that they are becoming the new top “Heel” stable of TNA while “Aces & Eights” looks to be turning “Face” which will be interesting. So now as we’re on the road to Bound for Glory, I think Impact Wrestling is going to be very interesting in the upcoming weeks. On a closing note, Tonight was what appears to be Mickie James last match in TNA as Mickie’s contract expired this Monday and Mickie has yet to resign with TNA. Again for my thoughts on Mickie James and Mickie leaving TNA, check my article “Mickie James: The Greatest Women’s Wrestler Today” which is now up on the site/
