Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight Impact Wrestling comes live from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as it’s the fallout from this past Sunday’s Slammiversary PPV which saw Eric Young successfully defending the TNA World Heavyweight title in a Triple Threat Steel Cage match. Tonight Young once again defends the TNA title as Young takes an opponent yet to be named, Will Young be able to retain the TNA title? At Slammiversary, fans were shocked as EC3 defeated Bully Ray in a brutal Texas Death match. How will Bully Ray deal with his lost to EC3 at Slammiversary? After a war of words on Twitter between Dixie Carter and Tommy Dreamer, Dreamer has been invited to tonight’s Impact Wrestling. Will Dreamer show up and if so what will “The Innovator of Violence” have to say to Dixie? After being gone for a year to give birth to her first child, Taryn Terrell makes her return to Impact Wrestling. What will the “Hot Mess” have to the other Knockouts? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Erin Young pins Kenny King to retain the TNA World Heavyweight title
The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) beats Austin Aries & Samoa Joe & Willow & Abyss in a Triple Threat Tag Team match to retain the TNA Tag Team titles
The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) defeat Magnus & Bram via disqualification retaining the TNA Tag Team titles
Bobby Lashley pins Eric Young to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion
The past few weeks, there has been war of words on Twitter or other social media between Dixie Carter and Tommy Dreamer after Dixie pulled several TNA stars who scheduled to appear at Dreamer’s House of Hardcore couple weeks ago. Dixie invited Dreamer to tonight’s Impact Wrestling supposedly to talk. Dixie comes out with Rockstar Spud talking about her nephew; EC3’s win over Bully Ray in the Texas Death match at Slammiversary. Dixie then talks about Dreamer like he’s a nobody telling Dreamer to come to the ring. Dreamer comes down to the ring to no music to confront Dixie. Dreamer grabs a mic when for an apology from Dixie which never comes. Dreamer talks about how he got to know Dixie and that he knows deep side there is still some good in Dixie. Dreamer asks Dixie to do the right thing for the fans which Dixie acts like she’s going to as she prepares to hug Dreamer only to knee Dreamer in the groins. EC3 then runs down to the ring beating on Dreamer and then kicks Dreamer out of his aunt’s ring. I believe that this going to lead up to a feud between Dreamer promotions and TNA. I think that this will be good for TNA and good for Dreamer’s promotion as it will give his promotion national publicity.
Impact Wrestling started off with MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley in the ring as MVP complains about the outcome from Slammiversary and the TNA Board of Director have reprimanded him for recent actions thanks to Dixie Carter. MVP calls TNA Champion; Eric Young to the ring where MVP tells that he and Austin Aries screwed Lashley a fair shot of winning the TNA title. Young goes on to tell MVP that this is the fans’ world and the wrestlers are just living in it. King is fed up with Young and challenges Young for the TNA title which he agrees to as he brings referee Earl Hebner to the ring. The match itself is pretty good as both Young and King worked well together as the match went back and forth between the two. Early in the match, MVP and Lashley try to interfere until Samoa Joe, The Wolves and Aries come to Young’s aid. King is able to take advantage of the chaos on the outside of the ring hitting a bridge suplex for a pin attempt but Young is able to kick out. King keeps working Young but starts to get cocky which allows Young roll King up for the win to retain the TNA title to the dismay of MVP, Lashley and King. MVP later in the show abuses his power by making Young to defend the TNA title again tonight but against Bobby Lashley. I thought that it was a great way to start off Impact Wrestling as it got the fans in Bethlehem pumped up.
After Young defended the TNA title for the first time in the night, MVP informed the Wolves that they would be defending the TNA Tag Team titles tonight in a Triple Threat match as the Wolves will take on Samoa Joe teaming with Austin Aries and an unnamed team that turns out to be Willow and Abyss. The match was awesome with some great action as the match was fast paced. Joe and Aries dominate the beginning of the match as the work on Willow with quick tags but Willow is able to hit a chin breaker on Joe as Willow tags in Abyss. Abyss tries to take down Joe but Joe is able to get Abyss into the Rear Naked Choke. Willow tries to come in to break up the submission hold but Aries comes into the ring and locks in the Last Chancellory on Willow. Edwards and Richards then come into the ring breaking up each holds. The match ends when Richards hits a double knee back breaker on Willow to retain the TNA Tag Team titles. Unfortunately for the Wolves, MVP inform them that he forgot another tag team that deserve a title shot and that the Wolves are going to defend the TNA Tag Team titles again tonight but against Magnus and Bram. Great match where all six men had the chance to shine and it’s a match that I highly recommend watching.
The Wolves defended the TNA Tag Team titles again against Magnus and Bram who fresh but the Wolves come out on fire double teaming Magnus hitting a hard double DDT followed a double dropkick on Magnus. Magnus and Bram gain some offense in the match working on Edwards. Edwards finally tags in Richards who takes out both Magnus and Bram when Richards dropkicks Magnus causing Magnus to DDT his partner; Bram. Richards then follows up hitting a missile dropkick on Magnus but misses the double stomp off the top rope as Magnus moves out of the way. However the Wolves retain the TNA Tag Team titles after Magnus nails Richards with a steel chair handed to him by Bram which causes Magnus and Bram to be disqualified. Magnus and Bram continue to use the steel chair on both Richards and Edwards until Willow and Abyss coming running to the ring chasing off Magnus and Bram. So it looks like TNA is going to do a feud between the four which looks like it could be good.
Gail Kim was in the ring looking smoking hot in a pink cocktail dress as she introduces Taryn Terrell who makes her return to Impact Wrestling after being gone for a year. Taryn comes down to the ring wearing a tight red strapless dress looks damn hot especially for someone who just had a baby three months ago. Gail tells Taryn that she wanted to welcome her back as she gave Taryn a hard time when she first came into TNA but Taryn earned Gail’s respect after their Last Knockouts Standing match and Ladder match from last year. Taryn thanks Gail for the compliment and says that since she won one match against her and Gail won one match against her that they go at it one more time to see who is the best. Just the Beautiful People come up to interrupt with Angelina saying that she wish Gail would go away. Angelina then turns her attention to Taryn introducing herself as they have never met before as Angelina nails Taryn in the gut. Angelina and Velvet Sky then start to attack Gail until Taryn comes spearing Angelina and then with Gail chase both Angelina and Velvet out of the ring. Great to see Taryn back and can’t wait to see Taryn back in the ring.
Early in the night, MVP announced that Eric Young was going to defend the TNA title again tonight but against Bobby Lashley. MVP stacked card even more against Young by banning anyone in the back except for himself and Kenny King from being at ringside and one upping things by having all the talent in the back escorted from the building to insure that nobody could help Young. The match starts off with Young going on the offense knocking Lashley out of the ring and then hitting a big splash on Lashley. Young tries to end the match rolling up Lashley for a pin attempt but Lashley kicks out. Lashley gains control of the match hitting a hard clothsline on Young followed by a vertical suplex. Young makes a comeback nailing Lashley with a dropkick and then a top rope splash but Lashley catches Young in midair. Lashley tries for the Dominator but Young shocks everyone reversing it into a piledriver on Lashley. Young goes for the pin attempt but King pulls the referee out of the ring before he can counts to three. Young then bodyslams Lashley to the mat and goes for the top rope elbow but Lashley rolls out of the way avoiding the elbow. Lashley spears the hell out of Young who hits the mat hard which allows Lashley to get the three count and the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career. After the match, Lashley, King and MVP celebrate Lashley’s win and then starting stomping on Young until out of the crowd comes Bobby Roode who chases the three off and has a stare down with MVP as Impact Wrestling ends.
Show Rating: 8 ½ stars
Holy Shit! What an Impact Wrestling we saw tonight as this show was awesome. The matches had great action to them but also told a great story. The fans in Bethlehem were hot throughout the night which I think helped the talent up the game tonight. I was surprised by the title change tonight as Bobby Lashley became the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion but I’m ok with it as we have Destination X coming up and I think that we see Lashley drop the title there. I thought that the Dixie Carter\Tommy Dreamer was good as Dixie was not that annoying and Dreamer’s promo got straight to the point. As I said earlier, I believe that we’re going to see Dreamer’s House of Hardcore invade TNA to feud with Dixie. I have to say the Wolves were impressive tonight as they wrestled two matches including the Triple Threat Tag Team match which I thought was one of the best TNA matches in a while. Taryn Terrell made her return to TNA tonight and looked great. I’m going to be interested to see how Taryn does in ring after being out of action for over a year. Taryn was on her way to being the TNA Knockouts Champion before taking a leave from TNA to give birth to her first child. Now with Taryn back, I expect that Taryn will be the Knockouts Champion before the year is over. Bobby Roode made his return after being off of TV and the crowd was screaming in excitement when Roode hit the ring. I won’t be surprise if Roode feuds Lashley and Lashley drops the TNA title to Roode. I guess that we’ll find out soon enough
