Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight, Magnus is forced to defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal Four Way match against Samoa Joe, Eric Young and Abyss. Will Magnus be able to overcome the odds and leave tonight still the TNA Champion or will we see a new Champion crowned? After being put through a table last week, Bully Ray teams with Willow as they try to get revenge as they face Bobby Roode and Ethan Carter III in a Tables match. Which team will be able to put their opponents through the tables to win the match? After being blindsided by Velvet Sky costing her match against Angelina Love, Madison Rayne tags with a mystery partner to face the Beautiful People in a Knockouts Tag Team match. Who will Madison team with tonight in order to get payback against Angelina Love and Velvet Sky? In a rematch from three weeks ago on Impact Wrestling, Mr. Anderson faces Samuel Shaw in a Straightjacket match. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Bobby Roode & EC3 defeat Bully Ray & Willow in a Tables match
Sanada pins Tigre Uno in a Best Two out of Three matches for the X Division title
Samoa Joe beats Eric Young by submission
The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) defeat Madison Rayne & Brittany in a Knockouts Tag Team match
Kenny King vs. MVP end in a No Contest
Magnus pins Eric Young to win the Fatal Four Way match to retain the TNA World Heavyweight title
For The 100th Time; Just Because I Wear Black Gloves Doesn’t Mean I Know OJ!
I have to say that Samuel Shaw has really taken the “Stalker” gimmick and has really run with and the Straightjacket match helped boost his character even more. I liked the little promo about how he’s not a creepy bastard and that he uses his hands to create art and that Anderson has done nothing but being ordinary. Before entering the ring, Shaw says in a creepy voice that Christy Hemme loves him. The match was ok but started off slow with Shaw and Anderson beating the shit out of each other trying to get the other into the straightjacket. I thought that the rolling Senton that Anderson hit on Shaw was good as Anderson tried to get the straightjacket on Shaw but was stopped when Shaw low blowed Anderson. Shaw was finally able to get Anderson into the straightjacket to win the match after locking in the standing Kata gatame on Anderson. I don’t know if the end of the Shaw\Anderson feud but if it is then it will be interesting where Shaw goes from here.
I Am The X Divsion So I’m Going Have A Meanless Feud With MVP
Kenny King came out before the Sanada vs. Tigre Uno talking about how he’s the X Division and keeps bragging how good he is when MVP comes down to the ring asking King to come to the back with him where they will discuss the matter in the back. King pushes MVP until MVP makes a match between himself and King. The match was good but I just fought that it could have been better. The action was slow but there was nice point in the match where MVP locks in the STF on King. The match mostly was back and forth holds and counter holds which where not exciting. The match broke down into a fist fight after King elbows MVP in the head causing the referee to call for the bell and the match ending in a No Contest. I guess TNA is going with a feud between King and MVP so it’s going to be interesting to see where this is going to go.
I know It’s A Fatal Four Way But Remember That We’re A Tag Team!
The Fatal Four Way was not a bad match but it sort of a disappointment as Young fought and Abyss fights each as the match started while Samoa Joe went after Magnus. Also Magnus and Abyss spent most of the match working together as a team which I thought the booking of the match could have had more tension between Magnus and Abyss. I have to say that I liked how Young performed in this match as he fought out of every pin attempt by Magnus and Abyss. Also I thought that it was a nice touch having Joe and Young argue with each other as Young broke up one of Joe one of Joe’s pin attempts. While toward the end of the match, there was a little tension shown as Abyss hit the Blackhole slam on Young, Magnus yelling at Abyss not pin Young. Abyss allows Magnus to hit the elbow drop from the top rope onto Young and gets the pin fall to retain the TNA title. Don’t be surprised to see Joe get another title shot as he wasn’t pinned during this match. Hopefully Joe will get proper title shot and win the TNA title.
This Table Is For You Bully Ray!
Tonight’s show started right off the bat with the Table match as Bobby Roode and EC3 were already in the ring as Bully Ray and then Willow come down to the ring for the match. I liked how Roode and EC3 worked well together which was a surprise as Bully and Willow as we knew would work extremely well with each other. Early in the match, Bully and Willow were in control of the match using double team moves on both Roode and EC3 like the “What’s Up” on EC3. There were several attempts by both teams to put an another person from the other team through a table but other team were blocked by the other team. The turning point of the match was when Rockstar came down to the ring in a wheel chair trying to distract Willow from putting EC3 through a table. Willow leaves the ring and grabs Spud heading for the back leaving Bully by himself. This allowed Roode and EC3 to double team Bully but Bully kept coming back before they could be put through a table. Roode finally was able to put Bully through a table when Roode hit the Spine Buster on Bully. After the match Roode with the help of EC3, puts Bully through two more tables. I don’t know where the Roode\Bully Ray feud is going next but it should be interesting.
This Is What The X Division Is Suppose To Be!
Sanada vs. Tigre Uno was damn match which at first I thought was a two out of three falls match but as the match went on I found out it was a 2 out of 3 matches. Sanada was really impressive during this match as he hit some combination moves like hitting a flying forearm then an arm drag followed by back suplex. Uno was not bad as he hit a hard kick to the head of Sanada. The end of the match was good when Sanada blocked Uno’s split legged moonsault from the top rope and hit a double undertook German suplex for the win and is now one match up in the best 2 out of 3 series for the X Division title.
Tonight we saw the Beautiful People back in action for the first time in five years (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky as a tag team) as they took on Madison Rayne and a partner of her choosing which turn out to be Brittany which was one of the three that I predicted in last week’s review. I have to say that I was more impress with Brittany seeing in this match as she showed more of she can do. Brittany had a nice chain of moves as she hit a shoulder block on Angelina following up with several arm drags and a hard body slam. Brittany keeps going as she hit a drop toe hold and then front face lock on Velvet. The Beautiful People were able to regain control of the match as worked over Brittany until Brittany hits a sweet Russian leg sweep and tags in Madison. Madison goes off Angelina who was tag in by Velvet with several clothslines finishing up with a hard kick to the head. The ends when Brittany tags herself in and goes after Angelina but Angelina and Velvet hit the Makeover to get the win. I think that this was the right finish because it puts the Beautiful People but keeps Madison from looking weak.
Show Rating: 6 ¼ stars
I don’t know what it is but this week’s show had something lacking to it. The matches were either ok or good but it just seem like the passion that fans in the Impact Zone has shown in the past two weeks were missing. I was disappointed with hardly any real tension between Abyss and Magnus because I think that it would have made the match less predictable. I’m still trying to figure out where TNA is going with Kenny King by having in what appears to feud with MVP which is interesting but doesn’t make sense either. It was to more out of Brittany in the ring which I think Brittany is going great in the Knockouts division and will be Knockouts Champion in the next two years. I think that the Bully Ray\Bobby Roode is going real good and I think that the payoff match will happen at Sacrifice. Hopefully next week’s show will be better as The Bro Mans defend the TNA Tag Team titles against the Wolves which should be a damn good match.
