Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight, Impact Wrestling comes from Manchester, England as the TNA’s UK Maximum Impact tour continues. Last week, MVP confronted Dixie Carter in the ring telling Dixie that her reign of terror is over. How will Dixie respond to MVP’s plans for TNA? Last week, Chris Sabin confronted Velvet Sky challenging Velvet to a match tonight. Will Velvet get in the ring and wrestle Sabin? During the Monster’s Balls match last week, Eric Young unmasked Abyss revealing that Abyss is also Joseph Park. How will Abyss react to this reveal and will Abyss confront Young? Also tonight, Mr. Anderson and Bully Ray take their feud to the next level as they face each other in a Casket match. Who will be victorious by putting his opponent inside the casket with the lid shut? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Gunner and “The Cowboy” James Storm defeated Magnus and Ethan Carter III with Gunner now the owner of both the TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match Briefcase and TNATag Team Championship Match Briefcase in Feast or Fired Briefcase Ladder Match Challenge
The Wolves & Samoa Joe beat The Bro-Mans (Robbie E & Jessie) & Xema Ion
MVP pins Rockstar Spud
Mr. Anderson defeats Bully Ray in a Casket match
Tonight, we saw the in ring return of MVP to US TV which normally would a “High Impact” or at least a “Ok Impact” but this was not the case because MVP’s opponent was Rockstar Spud. I think that we can all agree that Spud completely suck in the ring and sucks as a TV character so it’s disappointing that MVP made his TNA against Spud. I didn’t that MVP looked good in the ring but I would like to have seen MVP wrestle a better opponent. On the bright side, at least is was a squash match with MVP winning the match which is a good thing because if Spud had then I would have to train my cat to tear Spud on site with his sharp teeth. Plus the fact that we got to see MVP go “Ballin’”
Dixie Is Not A Hooker! Spud is The Hooker In This Ring!
I thought the confrontation tonight between Dixie Carter and MVP was alright because it started laying down the ground work for Lockdown. MVP proved why he’s one of the best on the mic as he said some funny in the opening segment like calling EC3 “ECPO” which got a good laugh out of the crowd. Magnus was very good on the mic getting great heat by putting Manchester down and commenting that he’s not for sell and he’s not a “Paper Champion” I think that the big problem was that there was too much of Dixie Carter. Dixie is not the greatest on screen character but she’s not the worst. However TNA has been using too much of Dixie which is not necessary as things involving her could have been done two segments. I did like the tease that has been hinted of a “Face” turn for EC3 which I thought was well done because it let’s TNA to slowly turn EC3 “Face.” I did like the closing segment with Dixie and MVP with MVP refusing Dixie’s offer to buy him and challenges Dixie to gather a team for Lethal Lockdown at Lockdown with the winning team getting total control of TNA. It will be interesting to see who will be each team at Lockdown.
Thanks A Lot Eric, Now They Won’t Release My Joseph Park Action Figure!
Tonight Abyss who was revealed last week to be Joseph Park (but you already knew that) came out to the ring calling out Eric Young who Abyss blames for ruining his life. Young quickly says that he’s Abyss’s friends and that he was only trying to help Abyss. I thought that this segment was a little confusing but interesting as I’m hoping that we’re truly seeing the end of the Joseph Park character and the full return of Abyss. Also I think that a feud between Abyss and Young is a good thing because it gives both men TV time to showcase their talents. On a side note, I wish that Young would shave that awful beard as it looks like a bird could nest there and have babies in there.
Dude, My Balls! I Was Planning On Getting Laid Tonight!
After MVP announced that Samoa Joe will face Magnus at Lockdown for the TNA World Heavyweight title, Gunner comes out reminding Magnus that he has the TNA title shot briefcase and that he plans on cashing it in next week for a title match against Magnus. Dixie quickly makes a match forcing Gunner to face EC3 in a ladder match with Gunner’s briefcase on the line. MVP one ups Dixie and makes the match a “Winner Takes All” match with EC3 putting his TNA Tag Team title shot brief case on the line also. Match started off with Gunner hitting a nice fall away slam on EC3 and goes on the outside of the ring to get a ladder only to get dropkicked by EC3 off the apron. Gunner regains control power bombing EC3 off the ladder. Gunner goes up the ladder for both briefcases only to be knocked off the ladder by Magnus who then stomps on Gunner along with EC3. James Storm comes down to the ring to help as he chases off Magnus and EC3 out of the ring. MVP comes out and makes the match a Tag Team match for both briefcases. The tag team portion of the match was quick pace with the interesting part being the interacting between EC3 and Magnus. The two started arguing when they had cleared the ring of Storm and Gunner and EC3 was going for the briefcase. The arguing costs EC3 and Magnus as Storm clothslines Magnus out of the ring followed by Gunner hitting a head butt from the top rope and climbs the ladder to retrieve both briefcases. I think that it’s interesting that TNA went with Gunner now having both briefcases as when will Gunner will cash in the Tag Team title shot briefcase. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
You’re Looking At The Next TNA Tag Team Champions!
Tonight we got to see the in ring debut of the Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) as they teamed up with Samoa Joe to take on the Bro-Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) & Xema Ion in a six man tag team match where the Wolves looked very impressive in the ring. I like the quick tags that Edwards and Richards made during the match and their double tag team moves which were great like the Wolves ramming Jessie’s head into Joe’s head. The Bro-Mans and Ion were not bad either as they were able to gain control of the match after Ion trips Richards into the corner of Ion’s team. Bro-Mans and Ion worked very well double teaming Richards until Richards makes the hot tag to Joe who was on fired as Joe clean house on the Bro-Mans and Ion getting the win for his team by making Ion submit to the Coquina Clutch. This was a damn good match and it looks like the Wolves future in TNA looks bright.
I Said I Wanted Velvet! Not Crush Velvet!
Tonight Velvet Sky was set to take on Chris Sabin which didn’t happen as Velvet was attacked by the Alpha Female who made her TNA debut. Alpha Female came up behind Velvet who is pounding Sabin and locks a vicious full nelson taking shaking Velvet like a ragdoll. I’m interested in seeing what TNA is going to do with Alpha Female as I have heard good things about Alpha Female. My good buddy, John Mayer has seen the Alpha Female wrestle live before and says that she is damn good. I trust John when he says this because John knows his independent talent and believes by the end of the year we’ll see the Alpha Female as the TNA Knockouts Champion. Time will only tell if this will come to past however I think that adding Alpha Female to the Knockouts division is a good thing in helping to rebuild the Knockouts division.
Rest In Peace Bitch!
The casket match between Anderson and Bully Ray was awesome and bloody as they torn each other apart. Anderson was impressive taking several hard spots but also had some good offense including a nice neck breaker on Bully. However Bully Ray was beyond vicious punishing Anderson as Bully blocks Anderson’s chair shot with a big boot which causes the Anderson to hit Anderson in the face busting Anderson’s nose open. Bully continues brutality as Bully power bombs Anderson from the top rope and then tries to pile drive Anderson inside the casket. Anderson makes his comeback hitting Bully with the mic check putting Bully inside the casket and slamming the lid on Bully to win the match. This was a great main event match and TNA was very wise to have this as the last match of the night. I will say that I was surprised that Anderson went over Bully but either way it was a great match.
Show Rating: 8 ¾ stars
TNA has been on a roll for the past few weeks as tonight was another great show with three awesome matches and storyline buildup heading toward Lockdown. MVP killed it on the mic as he took some good cheap shots at Dixie Carter in the opening segment that made me laugh that it’s this week’s “Tell He Didn’t Just Say That” quote of the week for the Wrestling Debate Podcast. I’m really glad that Samoa Joe is in the TNA title picture and will face Magnus for the TNA title at Lockdown as they know each other very well for their time as a tag team which they held the TNA Tag Team titles together. I very curious to see what TNA has planned for Bobby Roode as Roode confronted Dixie about his TNA title shot which Dixie blew Roode off. It will be interesting to see if TNA is going to turn Roode “Face.” I don’t know what to think about the promo for “Willow” better known as Jeff Hardy. I don’t know how this “Willow” character is going to over with the fans but it will be interesting to see. The only negative thing that I would say is that TNA needs to reduce the number of times Dixie appearances on the show because she not a great actress and her character can be annoying when she’s in almost every segment.
