Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight it’s the final Impact Wrestling for 2013 as tonight Joseph Park faces Bad Influence (Christopher Daniel & Kazarian) in a Monsters Ball match. Will we see the return of Abyss during Monsters Ball? Last week, after being pushed off the ladder during the Dixieland match to determine the new TNA Champion by Rockstar Spud allowing Magnus to grab the belt and become the new TNA Champion, what will Jeff Hardy have to say about his lost? Last week, four winners of the “Feast or Fired” match revealed the contents of their briefcases which saw Gunner get the TNA title to the dismay of “The Cowboy” James Storm. Will Storm confront Gunner about costing a chance at a TNA title shot? Earlier Dixie Carter had a big announcement for the fans in the Impact Wrestling. What is Dixie’s big announcement? Also tonight, ODB goes one on one with Lei’D Tapa. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
“The Cowboy” James Storm vs. Gunner for the “Feast or Fired” TNA title shot briefcase ends in a double count out
Joseph Park defeats Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) in a Monsters Ball match
Lei’D Tapa pins ODB
Ethan Carter III, Rockstar Spud & The BroMans (Robbie E & Jessie) beat Jeff Hardy & Sting in a handicap tag team match
How Many Times Have I Told You To Wrestling Without Your Shirt On?
We had a 20 minute plus promo tonight Dixie Carter which was very long winded and to be honest was boring toward the end. Why TNA decided that it was a good idea to have Dixie talking for 20 minutes needs to be taken out back and have their head pop out of their asses. I don’t think that having Rockstar Spud comparing Dixie to the likes of Lady Gaga, Queen Elizabeth and Santa Claus was great idea because it was terrible. I get Jeff Hardy interrupting Dixie to confront her about what happen last week at the end of the TNA title tournament. However I don’t think that it was necessary to have Gunner to come out and interrupt Dixie followed by Storm. That could have been done been done in a separate segment with Dixie coming on the screen making the match between Gunner and Storm. I think that TNA creative is over using Dixie and needs to only use her no more then five minutes in one segment. Also note to TNA creative, get rid of Rockstar Spud because he sucks worse then “Clair Lynch” and that character blew “Donkey Kong” big time.
You Bastards Just Ruin My New Jacket!!!!
I was dreading Monsters Ball because of Joseph Park being in the match but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. They did spots during this match that actually made sense like Daniels and Kazarian avoiding shots to Park’s head in order not to bust Park up to where Park would start bleeding. I did like the one spot where Park did a splash on Kazarian using a steel garbage lid and injuring himself in the process. One point during the match Eric Young to the ring to motive Park by trying to bust Park open but was stopped by Daniels and Kazarian. Things got interesting when Daniels and Kazarian accidentally busted Park open which Park went into Abyss mode after seeing his own blood. Park now as Abyss takes Kazarian out with the Shock Treatment after Kazarian hits Park with a steel chair which has no effect on Park.
I Pray That I Don’t F@ck Up This Leg Drop!!!
Tonight Lei’D Tapa and ODB went against each in a match that was ok but not great. I’m not high on Tapa because I think that Tapa is too “Green” in the ring. I will say that I liked the shoulder blocks attempts by ODB onto Tapa but Tapa would go done. This does make Tapa look like a monster that TNA is trying to make her be. The match went back and forth with each hitting some power movers like Tapa hitting ODB with the big boot and ODB hitting a hard on Tapa in the ring corner. The ended with when Gail distracted the referee with the Knockouts title belt allowing Tapa to hit an over the tope jaw breaker on ODB to get the win. As most of you know, I’m a big Knockouts fan but I think that if you missed this match, you didn’t miss much.
We Just Lost To A Rich Brat, Two Jersey Jerkoffs & A Skinny Spaz; I Quit!!!
Earlier in the show, Hardy came out interrupting Dixie Carter’s big announcement only to be attacked by EC3 who then was confronted by Sting. Dixie made a match with EC3 teaming with Rockstar Spud to take on Sting and Hardy which was originally Sting’s idea. I didn’t like that Spud was in the match as I do not like Spud because I think that he sucks in the ring. However before the match begins, Dixie announce that the match will be a handicap match as the TNA Tag Team Champions; The Bro Mans now team up with EC3 and Spud to face Sting and Hardy. The match itself was ok considering that you had four men on one side of the ring. Jessie and Robbie do most of the work for their team as they work on Hardy during a good part of the match as Jessie gets Hardy into a single Boston Crab. Hardy finally gets the hot tag to Sting after hitting a jaw breaker on EC3 with Sting coming into the ring taking everyone down. Spud tries to lock in a sleeper on Sting but Sting uses Spud to take the Bro Mans sending them out of the ring. However EC3 uses the chaos to roll up Sting and holds the tights to get the win for his team. After the match, Hardy made an announcement saying that he was sorry that he let Sting and the fans down and that this was his last match in TNA. With EC3 pinning Sting, I expect to see a match between the two most likely at Genesis.
You Just Spilled My Beer! Now Its On You Son of Bitch!!!
TNA has been teasing a possible feud between Gunner and Storm with tonight being the start of that feud as Storm confronts Gunner about costing him his match against Bobby Roode in the Florida Death Match during the TNA title tournament and costing Storm the TNA title shot briefcase. Dixie set a matchup between Storm and Gunner with the winner getting the briefcase with the TNA title shot. Gunner and Storm didn’t hold back anything as they went at each other. At first neither man could get the advantage as Storm took Gunner now with a boot and followed by a neck breaker while Gunner head-butts Storm and then hits a vertical suplex. The match only goes about five minutes before the match ends in a double count out after Gunner speared Storm out of the ring. Storm and Gunner continue to fight after the match with several referees trying to break them up. I expect to see Storm and Gunner to go at it again most likely at Genesis.
I Don’t Need You Anyway Bully Ray Because I Have A Hot Smoking Ass!
Brooke Tessmacher confronted Bully Ray in the ring about his behavior toward since He lost his rematch to AJ Styles for the TNA title. Bully ignores Brooke causing Brooke to tell Bully that she’s tired of him treat her like a dog and she’s watched him destroy everything including Devon his own brother. Brooke complains about how Bully was supposed to be her meal ticket to money and fame but now Bully is acting like a weird kid in high school who has no friends and she’s done. Bully turns around telling Brooke that that she’s done when he says he’s done with her. Bully goes on to say that he didn’t use Brooke because she was smart but for other things that Bully claims that Brooke wasn’t even good at. Bully tells Brooke that she’s lucky that he didn’t pile driver right there and tells her to deliver a message to everyone that he’s going to be more violent than he’s ever been before. It was an interesting segment that has me wondering where TNA is going with Bully Ray’s character.
Show Rating: 4 ¾ stars
Tonight’s Impact Wrestling was average with only one good match and one good segment. I think that the average fan is going to think that Hardy is done with TNA after his announce that his match tonight was his last match in TNA but that’s not the case. Hardy was written off TV to cover the fact that Hardy can’t go on the UK tour next month due to his legal troubles from two years ago. I expect to see Hardy back on TV in February. I wish that Tapa had more experience so her match against ODB would have been better. Tapa never should have been brought up from OVW because she’s too “Green.” However having Tapa team with Gail Kim is slowly helping Tapa to improve. I hope that tonight is the last night we Joseph Park because Abyss is the better character and should be one that TNA uses instead of the “Joseph Park” character. I liked the fact the TNA is splitting up Brooke and Bully Ray because I want Brooke to be active in the Knockouts division and get another run with the Knockouts title. I liked the start of the Storm\Gunner feud and it looks like it’s going to be a damn good feud which I think that we’re going to see Gunner turn “Heel” in the next couple of weeks which should be very interesting. Next week should be great as we get a rematch for the X Division title as Austin Aries defends against former Champion; Chris Sabin which I can’t wait to see.
