Laying the SmackDown

With Andrew B.

Welcome everyone to the return of Laying the SmackDown with Andrew B. Tonight we look at the fallout from TLC as we have special appearances from Randy Orton, John Cena & Daniel Bryan. Plus Jack Swagger will battle Big E Langston in a non-title bout. Plus The Rhodes Brothers will be in a non-title match against the Wyatt Family. Also former partners collide as Tensai battles Brodus Clay so let’s start right now.

The show starts with highlights from RAW & then Lilian Garcia announced Randy Orton to the live crowd. Orton said at TLC he cemented his legacy in the most monumental match in the history of the WWE. He defeated John Cena to become the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Orton then complained that he was not rewarded by the Authority but that he was put in a match the next night with an undeserving troll Daniel Bryan. Orton claimed he beat Bryan on RAW and then left John Cena laying in the middle of the ring when he came to the save Bryan. He says he is the Champion of Champions & says he doesn’t give a damn. Cena then comes out & Orton tells Cena that he could feel the jealousy oozing out of his pores, and it is pathetic. Orton says the spotlight was on Cena but now it is on him. Cena said TLC was historic because of the two Championships that Orton now holds, and if you don’t want to be a champion, there’s a door you can get the hell out of. Cena said he wanted to hit him with some truth, and now all eyes are on him. Cena said everyone is watching him, and he can’t get away anything anymore. Cena asked him how he wanted to be remembered. As a champion of champions, or the coward we saw Monday Night. Orton said he did what he had to do to win, & Cena tells him that Bryan won by disqualification. Cena said he said for weeks that Orton always takes the easy way out, and he showed up at TLC and became a man, but it lasted for less than one night. Orton said he sees what Cena is trying to do, but it doesn’t matter, and Bryan is not getting another shot. He says Bryan doesn’t deserve it & Cena doesn’t even deserve to be in the same ring as him as Daniel Bryan comes out now. Bryan says he gets why Orton did what he did Monday Night, and he gets why he won’t give him another rematch. It’s because Randy Orton is afraid. Orton is afraid that once he beats him, that all the myths Randy has been told since he was little kid about being better than everyone will fall apart. Orton is afraid to admit that he doesn’t deserve to be called the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Bryan said he made his peace with it, and he knows Cena will win his rematch and live up to his word and give him a real shot. Orton said that will never happen, because the Authority won’t allow it. Bryan asked the crowd if he was the face of the company, and said they can say it louder than he can. He screamed No! And the crowd followed along with him. The Shield’s music & they come to the ring through the crowd. Bryan and Cena stood in the ring ready to fight as Orton left but CM Punk comes out. Overall:

What a show to return to reviewing as we had some short but decent matches & more story lines improve as we head to the rumble. The opening segment was good as I look for it to lead to a triple threat at the Royal Rumble. Swagger vs. Big E was a good but short match as I like the feud between the Real Americans vs. Mark Henry & Big E, especially if it leads to a Cesaro Spin on Henry. The Divas match was good as they tried hard & Brie is really improving in my mind. Even though Drew lost in a squash to make Sin Cara look good I was still happy to see some 3MB on SmackDown. Tensai vs. Clay was what you expect it to be & that is not a classic like HBK vs. Bret Hart but more of a kill me now like JTG vs. David Otunga. The tag match was good as I love how WWE is slowly rebuilding the tag team division. The whole Miz thing is getting annoying is he a heel or face & his promo with Sandow was not great & neither was the match. Fandango vs. Kofi was a good match but it’s sad they both have talent but are going nowhere right now. The main event was great as all 5 men worked hard & delivered a great match. Even Cena with the dropkick & tornado DDT were awesome. The end was good as I look forward to seeing Big E team with Punk & Cena vs. The Shield. I also like that Cena & Bryan are in the title hunt but other stories as well.

Rating For the 12/20/13 SmackDown: 6 out of 10

Well that’s all for this week I will be back next week & be on the lookout for the Andy Awards in a week or so.
