Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight Impact Wrestling is live from Cincinnati, Ohio as the TNA World Heavyweight Tournament starts tonight with Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Sabin in Full Metal Mayhem. Who will advance in the TNA title tournament tonight?  After having his epic match against Booby Roode, what is the condition of Kurt Angle? Sting announced that tonight he has an announcement to the future of the Main Even Mafia. What will Sting and the other members of the Main Event Mafia have to say?  Also tonight in a Triple Threat match to determine the Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title, it’s Velvet Sky vs. Brooke vs. ODB. Who will leave as the new Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title?  So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Velvet Sky vs. Brooke vs. ODB to determine the new Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title end in a “No Contest”

Ethan Carter III pins Dewey Barnes

Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) defeat Eric Young & Joseph Park

Jeff Hardy pins Chris Sabin in Full Metal Mayhem to advance in the TNA title tournament

No Impact

Yes, My Grand Dad Screwed The Barnes!!!!

Ok we get it that ECIII; Ethan Carter III is the “The Rich Self Entitled Nephew” of Dixie Carter but enough of these stupid matches with Carter facing nobodies that have no chance of beating Carter ever if wrestling wasn’t scripted. Hell, my cat could beat Dewey Barnes. How many times is TNA going to use this Dewey Barnes? I keep expecting Dewey’s Uncle Cliff to come down to the ring complaining about how Dixie’s daddy cheated his daddy out of his shares of Panda Energy and TNA. Wait sorry about that wrong show. Anyway TNA needs to start having Carter wrestle real talent in order for fans to take Carter seriously.

OK Impact

You’ve Been Hoodwinked Bitches!!!

Tonight I that we were going to see the end of “Aces &Eight” tonight but boy did TNA throw us one hell of a curveball. When “Aces & Eights” came down to the ring to vote on the future of the gang and Knux and Bischoff took off their vests, I thought that “Aces & Eights” was over. That not the case as Bischoff and Knux came back into the ring attacking Mr. Anderson who thought that he had Bully Ray all to himself. I thought that TNA did a decent job fooling the fans into thinking that “Aces & Eights” were done. I thought that Bully Ray did a great job making everyone believe that “Aces & Eights” were going to spilt up. Don’t get me wrong as I think that the “Aces & Eights” angle has run its course but I give TNA props for fooling us fans.

Hey Watch It! This Camera Is Expensive!

Just when we thought we were done with Joseph Park and Abyss was back guess who we got tonight. If you guessed Joseph Park unfortunately you’re right. Actually we got a decent match Park teamed with Eric Young to take on Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian). I also thought that Young was a damn good wrestler but his gimmick gets on my nerves at times. I did like how Young did hit the turnbuckle and flipped over shades of Ric Flair during the match. The elements that made this match decent were Daniels and Kazarian. The distractions and the double team moves that they used made the match bearable to watch when Park was in the ring. It you missed this match last don’t worry because you didn’t miss much.

High Impact

Boys, It’s Time To Split The Band!

Impact Wrestling started off Sting and the rest of the Main Event Mafia in the ring where Sting informs everyone that the Main event Mafia are disbanding and going their separate ways. I think that this is a good idea because Main Event Mafia was getting old. I liked how Angle, Joe and Magnus how the TNA title tournament is important to each of them and they each talk about how they each are going to win the tournament and become the new TNA Champion especially Joe who hasn’t been TNA Champion since 2008. I think out of the three, Angle or Magnus has the better chance walking out of the tournament as the new TNA Champion however I wish that TNA would give Joe another run with the TNA title. Sting talk about he’s going to deal with a thing entitlement referring to those who think this business owes them something, that they can come in and get whatever they want. I expect that we’ll be seeing Sting feuding with Ethan Carter III and Dixie Carter real soon.

Did You Reall Think I Forgot About Last Week!!!

Looks like TNA it going to keep the feud between Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode as they went at it again when Angle talked about being knocked out again in his match last week with Roode which Roode came out taunting Angle about being a looser. Angle and Roode went after each other’s throats with referees, wrestlers and backstage producers trying to kept Roode and Angle apart. Later in the show Roode came back out screaming for Angle who came even later in the show which caused another brawl between Roode and Angle but this time with Austin Aries involved who faces Angle next week in the TNA title tournament which Dixie announced that the match will be a submissions match. I like that TNA is going to keep this feud between Roode and Angle going which I expect that they each will cost the other their spot in the tournament leading to a third match between Angle and Roode which will be great for sure.

No I’m Tapping That Ass First!

Tonight got a Triple Threat Knockouts match to determine who will get the next TNA Knockouts title shot against Gail Kim. It was nice to see all three go at it against each which interesting because not counting Lei’D Tapa there’s only Brooke, Velvet and ODB to challenge Gail for the Knockouts title. The match was very good and I thought that Brooke did an amazing job during this match including a nice twisted neck breaker and a flying elbow from the top rope on ODB. I think one of the best spots during this match was when ODB had Half Boston Crab on Brooke while Velvet grab Brooke’s other leg making it a full Boston Crab. The match end in a “No Contest” after Gail Kim and Tapa interfered in the match taking all three women. Gail went to make an open challenge to any woman outside of TNA to a match and if they beat her then she will give them a TNA Knockouts title shot. I can’t wait to see who TNA is going to bring in to challenge Gail. I hope that it’s either Alissa Flash, Sarita or Mickie James which Mickie would be an interesting choice because she left TNA as a “Heel.” I love to see either Sarita or Alissa Flash come back to TNA have a run with the Knockouts title. There are plenty of great independent women’s wrestlers out there so I hope that TNA someone that will shock us fans.

That’s Going To Leave A Mark For Sure!

Despite being a short match, 10 minutes long, the match was damn good and fans weren’t disappointed. In these types of matches we fans expect to see some great spots and that’s what we got. Sabin had a nice spot hitting a twisted neck breaker on Hardy using a ladder. Sabin was also able to during this match to block some of Hardy’s big moves like a power bomb face buster onto the table and Hardy trying to Sabin a through a table only for Sabin to move out of the way causing Hardy to go through the table instead. There were several pin falls and at one point I actually thought that Sabin might win the match. However Hardy takes Sabin out when Hardy gets his needs up when Sabin tries to put Hardy through a table. Hardy then hits the Twist of Fate on Sabin followed by the Swanton off the top of the ladder to pin Sabin and to move to the semi finals of the TNA title tournament. If you missed this match then I recommend that you go onto YouTube and watch it.

Show Rating: 5 ½

Final Thought

This week’s Impact Wrestling was ok but not great because it seemed like the promo segments dragged on forever. I mean that we didn’t ever get the first match until almost 30 minutes into the show. With the exception of the Knockouts match the other matches were short. Full Metal Mayhem should have gone at least 20 minutes. I liked that we got to see highlights of Styles defending the TNA title in AAA which I think hype up interest when Styles return to TV with the TNA title and there’s another TNA Champion. What matches we got were two good matches, one ok and another squash match with Ethan Carter. TNA needs to end the squash matches and have Carter wrestle some actual talent. I can’t wait to see who TNA is going to bring in to challenge Gail Kim but that it’s someone who is damn good. Hopefully next week’s show will have better quality matches which the Angle vs. Aries Submission match should be awesome.
