Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight it’s the Halloween Impact Wrestling taping from Salt Lake City, Utah. Last week, AJ Styles shocked Dixie Carter and TNA when after successfully defeats Bully Ray to retain the TNA title, Styles rips up Dixie’s contract offer and informs everyone that he’s leaving with the TNA title to defend it among the people. How Dixie will respond to Styles leaving TNA with the TNA title? After making his return to Impact Wrestling and attacking Bully Ray, what will Mr. Anderson have in store next for Bully Ray? At Bound for Glory we saw the return of the Monster Abyss. Will we see Abyss return to Impact Wrestling on Halloween night? Tonight we have three rematches from Bound for Glory as the new TNA Tag Team Champions; Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie) defend against former champions; “The Cowboy” James Storm & Gunner. Gail Kim puts the TNA Knockouts title on the line against former Knockouts Champion; ODB. In the main event, its Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle.  So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie) defeat “The Cowboy” James Storm & Gunner to retain the TNA Tag Team title

Ethan Carter III pins Norv

Magnus beats Sting, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels, Knux, Eric Young & Manik in a Gauntlet match to win the eighth slot in the TNA World Title Tournament

Gail Kim pins ODB to retain the TNA Knockouts Championship

Bobby Roode defeats Kurt Angle by count out

OK Impact

Gunner, I Got A Funny Feeling We Aren’t Winning The Titles Back Tonight!

Tonight it was “The Cowboy” James Storm and Gunner got their rematch against the Bro Mans for the TNA Tag Team titles which saw the Bro Mans going after Storm and Gunner as they came to the ring. Storm and Gunner dominate the Bro Mans for the early part of the match with Gunner hitting a slingshot suplex on Robbie following by Storm coming in hitting a double clothesline on the Bro Mans. Robbie E saves the match for his team breaking up a pin fall attempt after Storm hit the Eye of the Storm on Jessie. The match breaks down with all four men in the ring with Storm hitting a back stabber on Jessie after the Bro Mans got rid of Gunner on the outside of the ring and trying for the Last Call as Robbie E pulls Jessie out of the ring. The match ended with Jessie pinning Storm to retain the TNA Tag Team titles for the Bro Mans after tripped Storm while Storm was attempting to suplex Jessie into the ring and held on to Storm’s feet. I don’t have a problem with tis finish because it gives Storm & Gunner a reason for another title show against Bro Mans most likely at Turning Point.

Another Jobber, Another Dollar!!!

Well ECIII had his second match on Impact Wrestling again facing a jobber but this time the same guy Carter faced at Bound for Glory; Norv. It’s was just another squash job that’s design to put Carter over as the spoiled rich entitled nephew of Dixie Carter which is fine. Carter is impressive with his charisma and Carter’s wrestling skills are not bad at all. However TNA can these squash matches a couple more times but it starts hurting Carter to taken as a serious wrestler. Carter has all the tools to get this character over as a “Heel” but it’s up to TNA to execute the booking.

I’m Back In The TNA Title Picutre! Oh Shit!!! May Not

The Gauntlet match was interesting as Sting was the first man to start the match off considering that Sting can’t complete for the TNA title. Dixie says that she’s giving Sting an exception but that he has to run the entire gauntlet in order to get into the TNA title tournament. Some of the participants were interesting as Manik, Knux and Eric Young were all in the match long with Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Magnus. It was an average Gauntlet match with a few cool spots but only a few. I thought that Magnus was the right choice to have win the Gauntlet match as I can see Magnus being a World Champion. However I don’t think that Magnus is the guy that you want to put up against Styles in an unification match when that happens down the road.

High Impact

See I Took A WWE Idea & Acutally Made It Work!!!!

TNA has started using their new “24/7 Coverage” with Dixie Carter announcing earlier this week that she has striped AJ Styles of the TNA title and a tournament would be setup to determine a new TNA Champion. Tonight Dixie revealed that the tournament would start next week and named seven men who would in the tournament; Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Bobby Roode, “The Cowboy” James Storm, X Division Champion Chris Sabin, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries. Dixie informs everyone that last tonight there will be a Gauntlet match to determine who the eighth man will be in the TNA title tournament.  Bully Ray comes done to confront Dixie about not being in the tournament which Dixie gives an excellent explanation why Bully Ray was not in the tournament was because he lost twice to Styles and was responsible for the current situation. I thought that this was perfect way to keep Bully Ray out of the tournament so that he can feud with Mr. Anderson. Later in the show, Dixie introduces the “Wheel of Dixie” in which a stipulation will be chosen for each match. I know that it’s a rip off of Raw Roulette but I think that it will be these tournament matches even better. The first match in the tournament has been announced for next week which will be Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Sabin in Full Metal Mayhem.

Damn!!! We Need Some Knockouts!!!

ODB got her rematch against Gail Kim for the Knockouts title and they didn’t disappoint as they had a damn good match. ODB starts off dominating Gail with several chop before chasing Gail to the outside of the ring and hitting a fall away slam on Gail on the outside of the ring. Gail regains control of the match when Lei’D Tapa distracts ODB allowing Gail to hit a drop kick on ODB. Gail then goes to work on ODB’s legs locking the Figure Four on ODV using the ring post. ODB comes back fighting out of a scissor lock into a single-leg crab on Gail. The match ends with Tapa distracting ODB after ODB hit a front suplex on Gail from the top rope which allows Gail to pin ODB while holding the ropes to retain the Knockouts title. Now the big question is who will now challenge Gail for the Knockouts title considering that TNA only has two “Faces” for Gail to face.

The Monster Is Back & It’s About Damn Time!!!

Tonight the Monster Abyss made his return after Christopher Daniels and Kazarian came out to the ring dressed like Sherlock Holmes saying that they have solved the mystery of the missing Abyss. Eric Young comes down to the ring dressed like Joseph Park which was scary in itself. Daniels and Kazarian attack Young until Abyss comes out and hits the Blackhole Slam on both Daniels and Kazarian. It’s good to see Abyss back as I’ve hated the Joseph Park character and have been waiting for TNA to get of the character. I just hope that TNA will keep Abyss around and let Joseph Park rest in peace.

It Doesn’t Get Any Better Then This!

The rematch between Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle was one of the best hard found matches I’ve seen as both men gave it their all. This match had so many submission holds that it was crazy. Roode would have Angle in the cross face and then Angle would reverse it into Angle Lock. Roode would fight out of the Angle Lock by getting to the ropes. From the Angle Slam to the Spine Buster, Roode and Angle pulled out all their best moves. Toward the end of the match Angle hits a super belly to belly suplex from the top rope on Roode which knocks out both men. Roode wins the match by count out when Roode is able to get to his feet before the 10 count while Angle is still passed out on the mat. I have no problem with the finish to this match as this was hard fought from start to finish and could be a “Match of the Year” contender for sure. If you missed this match then you need to go on Youtube and watch it.

Show Rating: 7 ¾

Final Thought

This week’s Impact Wrestling was much better then last week show as we got five matches including that nail biting Roode vs. Angle match. Dixie Carter wasn’t bad tonight and I think that she’s starting to find herself in this new “Heel” character. I think that having Magnus win the Gauntlet match and being in the TNA title tournament is a good idea but I don’t that Magnus is the guy to put up against Styles when it comes time for an unification match. I personally think that either Hardy vs. Styles or Aries vs. Styles would be the better way to go. Great Knockouts match tonight but TNA needs to sign more women to the Knockouts division and they need to start doing it now. I can’t wait for next as we have the first match in the TNA title tournament which Jeff Hardy will face Chris Sabin in a Full Metal Mayhem match. That match in my mind will tell who is had the better chance to win the TNA title.

Stars of the Night: Bobby Roode & Kurt Angle
