Ring of Riley
With Riley Ross
Welcome back to Ring of Riley where I break down each segment and match on Ring of Honor. At the end of the review, I will give out honors for Riley’s Rewind which is the best match, Riley’s Regret which is worst match or segment, and to cap it the review, I will award a wrestler with Star of the Night. Each honor will have a brief justification as to why they were awarded the honor or dishonor. They open up with a Death by Dishonor recap where Adam Cole is named the RoH World Champion. He then brutally attacks Jay Briscoe and Michael Elgin.
Adam Page vs. ACH—the match starts off with the two men shaking hands. They go for a lockup and some chain wrestling. ACH takes Page down with a shoulder block. ACH follows up with a side headlock takedown. Page sends him flying into the ropes and he plays Leap Frog. Page chops him and takes him down. He suplexes ACH and goes for the pin but ACH kicks out. ACH and Page are trading blows. ACH delivers an enziguri to the back of Page’s head. He goes for the pin but Page kicks out. Page does a high flying move and goes for the pin but ACH kicks out. ACH sends Page flying over the top rope, when Page gets back on the apron ACH knocks him down. ACH does a beautiful suicide dive. Both men are in the ring and ACH does a crossbody from the top rope. Page rolls thru with a pin of his own. Winner: Adam Page
Nigel McGuinness is in the ring to talk about what happened at Death by Dishonor. He gives props to Adam Cole for doing what he had to do to win the title. He addresses Jay Briscoe handing over the title to Adam Cole. He admits to being embarrassed by Cole’s actions. He says he cares about the prestige of holding that title. He announces a match for the Glory by Honor PPV a two hour, eight man tag match, champions versus all-stars. The first man announced is Michael Elgin. Jay Briscoe’s music hits and he storms to the ring. Jay gets on the microphone and asks how he can make a match when he doesn’t have Briscoe in the lineup. McGuiness says it’s because he is injured. Briscoe says he will be cleared soon. Briscoe then says Cole did what he did because he is a bitch. Before the exchange can get heated, here comes Michael Elgin. Nigel looks a little nervous as Elgin and Briscoe square off. Shit got ugly real fucking quickly. Oh shit he went there about Jay always having Mark watching his back. Finally the officials get in the ring. Briscoe calls him a bitch and the refs have to step in between them.
Mike Mondo vs. Roderick Strong—the match starts off with chain wrestling before Mondo puts Strong in a side headlock. He takes down Strong with a shoulder block. Strong delivers a vicious backbreaker. Mondo drives him down to the mat. He goes for a pin but Strong kicks out. Strong starts chopping away but Mondo mounts a defense with a series of knees. He has Strong locked in the corner and is ramming his shoulder into Strong’s midsection. He throws Strong down and goes for a pin but Strong kicks out. Strong makes a comeback with a series of kicks before delivering a brutal missile dropkick. He puts Mondo on the top rope and goes for a superplex. He goes for the pin but Mondo kicks out. Mondo goes for a rollup but Strong kicks out. Strong powerbombs Mondo and scores the win. Winner: Roderick Strong
Strong gets on the microphone and says he is proud to wrestle for Ring of Honor. He goes on to announce his accomplishments in Ring of Honor. Damn his list was full of awesome accomplishments.
A recap of Homicide and Kingston is shown and how they snapped the fingers of RD Evans. RD and QT Marshall are in the ring with Veda Scott. She blames Ring of Honor for allowing this injustice to happen. Evans gets on the microphone and threatens a lawsuit against RoH and Nigel McGuinness. He goes on to state that they will face Homicide and Kingston tonight.
Evans/Marshall vs. Kingston/Homicide– before Kingston can get to the ring Marshall is on the attack. Homicide is in the ring attacking Evans. Marshall attacks Homicide and he scoops him up but Homicide counters. That neckbreaker was fucking sweet by Homicide. Evans gets his pink cape wearing ass handed to him. Kingston and Homicide double team him. Winner: Outlaw Inc.
Apparently they snap the fingers of Evans again. They challenge the Red Dragons right now to a prison style match. Nigel says they aren’t there. Kingston has a seat in the middle of the ring and says they will wait. Security and the officials had to force them out of the ring.
Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven—this is for the Ring of Honor World Television title. Taven is accompanied to the ring by Truth Martini and the Hoopla Hotties. Both men adhere to the code of honor. The match starts off with Taven rolling out of the ring. He gets back in the ring after getting words of encouragement by his groupies. They go for a lockup and Taven backs Lethal against the ropes. One of Taven’s entourage grabs Lethal’s legs and the groupies get booted from ringside. Lethal takes advantage of the distraction and is owning Taven’s ass. Taven rolls out of the ring twice and Lethal goes after him. He dropkicks him off of the apron and does another suicide dive. Back from commercial and both men are in the ring and Taven is in charge of the match. He goes for the pin but Lethal kicks out. He kicks Lethal and Lethal looks pissed off. He gets to his feet and starts chopping away at Taven. Taven takes him down and goes for the pin but Lethal kicks out. Taven goes for a flippy move but Lethal counters by bringing his feet up. Lethal scoops him up and slams him down. Lethal goes to the top rope and Taven knocks him into a sitting position on the top turnbuckle. He goes for a superplex and Lethal counters. Taven is hanging upside down from the ropes and Lethal goes to charge at him but Taven moves. Taven hits him with a Climax. Winner: Matt Taven
Here comes Truth Martini and the Hoopla Hotties to celebrate. I love the fact that Nigel called him Willy Wanka. Taven and Lethal shake hands after their match. Martini calls him a special wrestler and he introduces the hotties. I’m sorry but don’t show close-ups of their busted ass faces.
Riley’s Rewind—this honor goes to Homicide and Eddie Kingston. Sorry Red Dragons but your time as tag team champs is gonna end soon.
Riley’s Regret—there are no regrets with this showing of Ring of Honor.
Star(s) of the Night—after much deliberation this goes to Jay Lethal and Matt Taven. Their match was truly amazing and both men show that they have heart and a passion for the wrestling business. This match was full of holy shit chants at least from me.
In closing this was one of the best episodes of Ring of Honor. Seriously if you aren’t watching Ring of Honor then I feel sorry for you because you are missing out. Seriously everyone should watch it. Have a good night and a better tomorrow!
