With Riley Ross

Welcome back to Ring of Riley where I break down each segment and match on Ring of Honor. Tonight is the 100th episode of Ring of Honor so break out the popcorn and beverages of your choice and enjoy this column as I talk about why I love Ring of Honor. First of all let me say that I am not bashing the other companies when I talk about my love of Ring of Honor. The end products that they all put out are very different and enjoyable in their own right. I didn’t want to love Ring of Honor but they made me love them and for that I am eternally grateful.

With that being said Ring of Honor made me love wrestling again. It made me care about wrestling and not sports entertainment. With Ring of Honor you don’t get to see the same stale matches but each week you get fresh and invigorating matches that make you scream “Holy shit” or that was “that was fucking awesome.” The matches that each of their wrestlers put on show that they have a passion for the sport and that they do care about the fans. Trust me the fans can spot when a wrestler or sports entertainer is only there for a paycheck or when they fake their love of wrestling. With each match that they put on they give it 100%. They take risks with the bumps they take and they sell their opponent’s moves. You never hear of backstage politics or anything negative coming out of their locker room.

Also Ring of Honor lets the fans be interactive. They get to throw streamers in the ring as the wrestlers make their entrances. Which I think is awesome as hell. They don’t edit out cheers or boos which we do notice. They don’t treat the fans like we are stupid but they treat us like we are part of their family which is amazing.

They hire their female wrestlers based on talent and not bra size. Their female talents can put on a match that can keep you glued to the edge of your seat because they can wrestle and they aren’t afraid to steal the show from the men.

Ring of Honor doesn’t bore you with longwinded promos, they give short and to the point promos that are more believable than anything you’ve ever heard before. They don’t believe in the showmanship that is seen in other companies. They give you what you want and that is wrestling. No pyros or twenty minute entrances for them. They give you straight wrestling which is what we all want from any of the companies that we watch.

The commentary from Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness and or Steve Corino is absolutely amazing. They actually call the matches and don’t sit there trying to insult one another. They actually put over other independent companies and they sell the matches with their commentary. They have a chemistry that nearly rivals Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler.

In closing this is why I love Ring of Honor and I hope that you will too. Give it a chance and you will not be disappointed with them.  They won’t disappoint you with boring and the same matches over and over. Everyone gets a chance to shine in Ring of Honor. Congratulations Ring of Honor on your 100th episode, here’s to a hundred more. 1. Alucard says:

With the RoH celebrating 100 episodes I think it is important to support them. With the only alternative being WWE and TNA I think it is more important then ever to support the indi circuit now more then ever that way the WWE and TNA will improve there products and promote new talent instead of shoving Cena down our throats.
