It’s Riley’s Main Event

With Riley Ross

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Riley’s Main Event. I will break down each segment and match of Main Event. At the close of the review I will pick the standout moment, Superstar or Diva of the show and give a brief explanation of my choices. On tonight’s show we have the Shield vs. Mark Henry/The Usos, Aksana vs. Natalya, and Sin Cara battles it out with Curtis Axel. On commentary we have the lovable Josh Matthews and the ever so annoying Miz.

Mark Henry/The Usos vs. The Shield—the match kicks off with Seth Rollins and Jimmy Uso. They go for chain wrestling and so far Jimmy is dominating Seth. He takes him down with a shoulder tackle. Jimmy takes him down with a weak clothesline before tagging in his brother Jey. They double team him before Jey goes for the pin but Seth kicks out. Seth starts kicking ass before tagging in Ambrose. Jey starts working the left arm of Dean who gets up and backs Uso in the corner. Ambrose starts punching him until the referee breaks it up. Dean goes for ramming his shoulder in the midsection of the Uso. Jey gets momentum back and rather sloppily slams Dean down. He goes for the pin but Ambrose kicks out. Uso tags in Mark Henry and Dean does his best to fake him out but Henry grabs him and sends him flying into the corner. Henry gets distracted by Reigns and Ambrose hits him in the knee. Ambrose tags in Reigns who is taking it to Mark Henry but Henry counters with a boot to the face. He then tosses Reigns over the top rope before attacking Ambrose. The Usos take out Seth Rollins. Mark Henry goes to splash Rollins but Ambrose and Reigns save him. Back from commercial and Henry is working on Reigns before tagging in Jimmy Uso. Reigns makes a comeback and takes him down before tagging in Ambrose who has the Uso locked in their corner. He clotheslines him and drops an elbow. He taunts him and then tags in Rollins.  Rollins kicks him in the back and puts him in a chinlock. Uso starts fighting back but Rollins scoops him up and slams him down. Jimmy tags in Jey Uso. Jey gets kicked in the head and he tags in Reigns. Reigns slams him down and goes for the pin but Uso kicks out. Reigns starts stomping away at him. He uses the ropes to choke Uso and while the referee is distracted Ambrose attacks the helpless Uso. Roman superman punches him and goes for the pin but Uso kicks out. He tags in Ambrose who stomps on him repeatedly. Uso stomps on his foot and goes to the ropes but Ambrose follows him and kicks him.  He starts stomping away at Uso. He tags in Rollins and he steps on Uso throat. They trade blows and Rollins picks him up and drops him on the ropes. He goes for the pin but Uso kicks out. Here comes Reigns to attack Uso. Reigns knees him in the head and goes for the pin but Uso kicks out. He tags in Rollins and they double team Uso. After the suplex, Rollins goes for the pin but Uso kicks out. He stomps away at Uso before tagging in Ambrose. They drop him but Uso takes them both down. Uso tags in Mark Henry who takes down all three members of the Shield. He grabs Seth by the hair and head-butts him. He sends Rollins flying into Ambrose who is in the corner and he splashes them. He tags in the Uso and Reigns grabs Mark Henry. While the Uso splashes Dean Ambrose and Rollins comes into take him out. Ambrose pins him. Winners: The Shield

The Shield cuts one helluva promo on their match. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns are the rare breed of wrestlers that can cut a promo and can wrestle. I agree with everything they say in this promo. They address Orton, Daniel Bryan and John Cena. Believe in the Shield because they aren’t going anywhere.

Natalya vs. Aksana—the match starts with Natalya rolling up Aksana for a quick pin attempt but Aksana kicks out. Nattie deserves better opponents and better treatment. She goes for the head scissors before Aksana gets out of it. Nattie punches her before working on her left arm. Aksana goes for the head scissors but Natalya counters. Natalya goes for a submission move but Aksana grabs the ropes. She puts Nattie in a side headlock before knocking her down. She goes for the Sharp Shooter but Aksana grabs the ropes. Nattie gets knocked down as the Shrieking one hit her in the knee. Aksana starts working the left leg of Nattie. She starts kicking away at Nattie but she still can’t wrestle. I’m sorry Miz but if you think she is sexy then you need to have your eyes checked. Nattie rolls thru and locks in the Sharp Shooter. Aksana tries to crawl to the ropes but Nattie drags her ass back. She forces Aksana to tap out like a whiny little bitch. Winner: Natalya

A recap of the CM Punk/Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman is shown. Great package of how the feud has progressed over the past couple of weeks. I still think Punk is going to whoop Lesnar’s thick headed ass.

Sin Cara vs. Curtis Axel—Paul Heyman has joined Miz and Josh Matthews on commentary. Miz is questioning Heyman about his match with Punk on this upcoming RAW. He thinks Heyman has something in store for Punk. Heyman keeps saying that Lesnar destroyed Punk on this week’s RAW and that is why he is doing it. Axel and Sin Cara dance around the ring before going into a lockup and Axel backs Sin Cara in the corner. He keeps tugging on Cara’s mask which is a no-no. He puts Sin Cara back in the corner and does the same thing. OMG he does this again but Sin Cara takes him down before Axel gains the upper hand. Sin Cara takes him down again and is working the left arm of Axel. He flips Axel and goes for a pin but Axel kicks out. Axel sends him flying into the corner and is chopping away at Sin Cara. Now he is stomping away at Sin Cara while the three twitches on commentary are bickering like a chicks in a high school clique. Sin Cara sends Axel flying thru the ropes. He does a suicide dive thru the ropes and takes Axel down. Both men are outside the ring before Sin Cara helps Axel into the ring. Axel knocks him off the apron and is taunting him. Back from commercial and Axel is dominating Sin Cara. Sin Cara is struggling to his feet by throwing elbows. Finally he breaks free and kicks Axel but Axel takes him down and goes for the pin but Axel kicks out. Axel chops him and does a snapmare. He goes for another pin but Sin Cara kicks out. He does an elbow drop and follows it up with another one but Sin Cara moved out of the way. Sin Cara dropkicks him and goes for the pin but Curtis Axel kicks out. Axel takes him down and starts punching away at Sin Cara. He grabs him and takes him down. Sin Cara goes to the top and takes down Axel. Both men are down and the referee is counting away. Now both men are up and fighting it out. Sin Cara botched the fuck out of the move. He takes Axel down again and kicks him in the head. Sin Cara goes to the top rope and nails him with the cross body. He goes for the pin but Axel kicks out. Sin Cara takes him down and goes for the pin but Axel kicks out again. Axel head-butts him. Somehow Cara goes for another pin but Axel kicks out again. Cara goes to the top rope and does a moonsault but Axel counters with boots to the midsection.  He does a neckbreaker on Sin Cara.  Winner: Curtis Axel.

Standout Moment—this honor goes to the Shield for having one hell of a match. To this date, I don’t think they have ever had a bad match. The WWE Universe is their yard.

Diva of the Show—goes to Natalya. Even though her opponent couldn’t wrestle her way out of a paper bag, Natalya did the best she could.

In closing, this is the first episode of Main Event that I have watched in a long time. Decent show and I look forward to watching it weekly. Make sure you all check out http://www.blogtalkradio.com/live-nation-radio-network. We’ll be airing Tuesday at 10pm ET Call in at (347) 945-6363. Have a good night and a better tomorrow!
