Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight it’s Champion vs. Champion as new TNA X Division Champion; Manik takes on TNA World Heavyweight Champion; Chris Sabin. Which Champion will walk out the victor of this match? Tonight the Bound for Glory Series continues as Austin Aries faces AJ Styles, Bobby Roode vs. Hernandez and Joseph Park vs. Jay Bradley. Who will move in the Bound for Glory Series scoreboard? Last week, Gail Kim slapped Knockouts referee; ODB during her title match against Mickie James. Will ODB get revenge this week on Gail Kim? Also tonight, the man behind the “August 1st Warnings” promises reveal himself tonight? Who is the mystery man behind these warnings? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Bobby Roode pins Hernandez in a Bound for Glory Series match
Joseph Park pins Jay Bradley in a Bound for Glory Series match
Chris Sabin pins Manik in a Non-Title match
Gail Kim vs. O.D.B. ends in a double countout
Austin Aries pins AJ Styles in a Bound for Glory Series match
This Match Blows Donkey Kong!
Ok, I come back from going to an awesome TNA house show to another Joseph Park match which I rather a Joey Ryan match then a Joseph Park match. The match was really bad as the Joseph Park Character’s move set is limited and his opponent; Jay Bradley couldn’t carry Joseph Park in this match. I mean that one point during the match, Bradley went to pick Joseph Park up for a suplex and could barely lift Park from the ground. If you haven’t already guessed, Joseph Park got the win after hitting a Samoa drop on Bradley. Another thing that didn’t help the match was Eric Young being by ringside putting the stupid headgear on Park. I don’t know what’s worst odd couple; Eric Young and Joseph Park or Eric Young and OrlandoJordan?
You’re Right, This Segment Is A Waste of Time
This week’s segment with “Aces & Eights” and Main Event Mafia was just plain boring and so predictable. I mean it was so boring that you knew that it was going to be a 10 Man Tag Team match that was going to be setup for Hardcore Justice. “Aces & Eights” have really became a joke especially with Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco as a part of “Aces & Eights” With the stipulation of whoever is pinned in the 10 Man Tag Team match has to leave TNA, look for Knux to be the one pinned and forced to leave TNA however it wouldn’t break my heart if it was either Bischoff or Brisco that got pinned. Now a wrench has been thrown into the mix which is going to affect this match as after Impact Wrestling aired and next week’s taping was done, Kurt Angle was arrest for DUI and is now in rehab which very good that Angle is helping but what does it mean for the 10 Man Tag Team match in two weeks at Hardcore Justice is the big question.
And You Expecting Someone Really Important!
So let me get this straight, Tito Ortiz is the mystery man behind the “August 1st Warning.” What a major letdown. I was expecting a big free agent on the independent scene like Carlito or John Hennigan AKA John Morrison which would have had a big effect on the TNA roster. I don’t understand what the point is bringing in all these MMA fighters in when they aren’t even going to wrestling. It’s a waste of money that could be spent hiring actual talents from the independent scene like to the two that I just mention. TNA wonders why they keep loosing viewers, bringing in these MMA fighters into TNA is one reason why.
It Does Pay To Be Roode!
Roode has been in sump since the Bound for Glory Series started but tonight Roode changed all that. After a great heated conversation with Aries Aries, Roode finally is on the scoreboard with 7 point after defeating Hernandez. I like this match as Roode was very aggressive during this match as at one point during the match, Roode went for a crossface on Hernandez but Hernandez was able to get out of it. Hernandez had some good offense of his own hitting a nice Air Mexico on Roode from the ramp way. I was surprised with the finish as Roode hit Hernandez with what looked like a beer bottle which if anyone remembers that how Roode won the TNA title in 2011. Now I can’t wait to see if Roode is going to make to the Bound for Glory Series finals.
What Do You Mean This Isn’t Flash Gordon vs. Spider-Man?!?!
Sabin vs. Manik was a very good match as the match started off with both men trading wrestling holds at a fast pace that had the fans cheering. Sabin gained control of the match after hitting an Enzuigiri on Manik which sent Manik to the ring floor. Manik comes back with some offense of his own with a sit down power bomb. Either man can pin the other until Sabin was finally able to hit a bulldog RKO on Manik followed by a kick to Manik’s head and then Hail Sabin for the win. Great match you should take the time to watch on Youtube if you missed it.
Panty Shot For You John!
Tonight we saw Gail Kim and ODB go at it and they went at full force beating the living shit out of each other. Gail started off the match by pie facing ODB which ODB flattens Gail on the ramp way. As the match goes on, Gail hits an awesome front drop kick on ODB and tries for a pin attempt only to get a two count. ODB comes back with power slam and pin attempt but Gail kicks out. At one point, Gail tries to wrap ODB’s leg around the ring post for a figure four only for ODB to kick Gail to the ground. The match end in a double count out which I thought was the right move as it builds up the feud even more.
The Greatest Match Ever Seen On TV
I don’t think that I could this match justice by trying writing about it move by move. This match lived up the hype as both Aries and Styles brought it to this match. Each man during the match went for their submission move only for the other to be able to fight their way out of it. There were some amazing spots during this match including Styles hitting the Pele out of nowhere on Aries, Aries hitting the brain buster and Aries going for a suicide dive only to hit the steel steps as Styles moved out of the way. The match ended with Aries getting the win after Aries got his shoulder off the mat at the last second as both he and Styles were both flat on the mat with each man having their arm draped over the other. I like the finished as shows that both men were busting their asses off in this match. This was a Four Star match for no doubts about it.
Show Rating: 7 ½
What can I say but this was a damn good Impact Wrestling despite the disappointment of the big “August 1st Warning.” Bobby Roode showed why “It Pays To Be Roode” as Roode finally is on the scoreboard in the Bound for Glory Series and we could be seeing another feud between Roode and Aries after that heated face to face during the opening segment of the show. ODB and Gail Kim proven why the TNA Knockouts are superior as they held nothing back during this match as they torn each other apart. Austin Aries vs. AJ Styles simply put is on my list for TNA Match of the Year for sure as this match was done perfect. Now the big thing that kept the show from getting a higher rating is because the final segment revealing the Tito Ortiz was the big “August 1st Warning” which left lot of fans disappointed. I talk more about this week’s Wrestling Debate Podcast with special guest Riley Ross. Still tonight’s Impact Wrestling was a damn good show and this is what TNA needs to keep doing.
