Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. It’s the TV taping from live from Indiana, Pennsylvania as tonight Kurt Angle has challenged any member of “Aces & Eights” to a match tonight. Which member of “Aces & Eights” will answer Angle’s challenge? After the stare down at the end of last week’s Impact Wrestling, will Hulk Hogan confront Sting tonight? Tonight is the long waited return of Chris Sabin as Sabin tries to earn a spot in the next TNA X Division title match. Will Sabin be able to get the win tonight in the triple threat qualifying match? After Bad Influence cost Bobby Roode and Austin Aries their chance to regain the TNA Tag Team titles last week, will Roode and Aries seek revenge against Bad Influence? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Chris Sabin defeats Xema Ion & Sonjay Dutt in a X Division Triple Threat match by pinning Xema Ion
Rob Terry beats Robbie E, Jesse & Joey Ryan in a Handicap match
Kurt Angle defeats D-Lo Brown in an “I Quit” match
Mickie James & Taryn Terrell beat Gail Kim & Tara
Sting defeats Matt Morgan by submission to become the Number #1 Contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
What? This isn’t the Gay Porn Auditions?
Rob Terry vs. Robbie E, Jesse and Joey Ryan in a Handicap match, seriously TNA, are kidding me? Can you get better opponents for Terry? I understand that TNA wants to build Terry as a “Monster Face” but they are doing a pretty shitty job of doing it. Why not have Terry wrestle someone like an “Aces & Eights” member? Also seeing Robbie E, Jesse and Joey Ryan together, I thought I was watching a Gay Porn audition. I think that Robbie and Joey Ryan could possibly be a good tag team but Jesse needs to go back to OVW because he’s just not ready.
What You Mean This Isn’t 1999?
What can I say about Matt Morgan but he needs to learn how to cut a promo. That segment with Morgan, Hulk Hogan and Sting was so boring that I was paying more attention to my new Android MP3 player. In Morgan’s defense the same thing can be said about Hogan and Sting’s abilities at cutting promos. I just know that the whole purpose to this segment is setting up a feud between Hogan and Sting which is boring and a waste of fan’s time.
Dude, Did You Shit Your Pants?
What the hell was TNA thinking having Sting wrestle Matt Morgan for the Number #1 Contender to the TNA title? I can understand why Morgan was in the match and it made perfect sense but why not have Morgan go against someone like Samoa Joe, Magnus or even “The Cowboy” James Storm? This was an average match that looked like Sting phoned in his performance in the ring. The Scorpion Death Lock that Sting had on Morgan looked awful, especially sitting on Morgan’s back. Also for the love of God, when you have to wear a T-Shirt when you’re wrestling, its time to retire, unless of course you’re Tommy Dreamer.
You Better Recognize I Still Got It!
I couldn’t make my mind up whether the Kurt Angle vs. D-Lo Brown match should go under “No Impact” or “High Impact” The match was not bad as D-Lo was good and had no real ring rust and still got it. Angle was impressive working on D-Lo with the multiple Angle Locks and selling the arm bar that D-Lo lock on Angle. It just wasn’t a good match but I thought that D-Lo was not bad in the ring and had it been just a regular match, it could have been very good.
All Hail Sabin! Savior of The Universe!
Well it was the return of Chris Sabin as Sabin made his return to the ring tonight and Sabin was on fire. When Sabin came out, the fans were excited to see Sabin back in the ring. Good match with some great action as all three men got in some damn good moves including Ion hitting double knees to the back of Sabin’s neck, Dutt hitting a Shooting Star Press and Sabin hitting a hard Enzuigiri on Dutt. Sabin the win with a wicked Death Valley Driver on Dutt and then hit a modified sit-down power bomb on Ion for the pin. I can’t wait to see Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams vs. Kenny King for the TNA Division title because it’s going to be awesome.
Being Bad Infleunce Is Good!
Out of all the promo segments during the show, Dirty Heels (Bobby Roode and Austin Aries) in the ring arguing with Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) in the ring about who was the greatest tag team and who were going to get the title shot against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez for the TNA Tag Team titles. All four men were great on the mic and the cheap shots that each team were taking at each other were great. Now next week we get to see these four men go at it in the ring to see who gets the title shot against Chavo and Hernandez but with a twist as “The Cowboy” James Storm is going to be the special guest referee for the match. I can’t wait for next week.
Feel Like I’m Loosing When I Won Again!
Again the TNA Knockouts showed why they are better the WWE Divas as we got a Knockouts tag team match as Gail Kim and Tara teamed up to get revenge on Taryn Terrell who has gotten roll up wins of both of them in weeks prior. Match had good steady action through out the match with Mickie James in the ring for half of the match for her team. Mickie hit a damn good Enzuigiri on Gail before Tara distracts Mickie allowing Gail to regain control of the match. Taryn got the hot tag under Gail and Mickie hit each with a cross body and hit a nice snapmare suplex on Tara. The match breaks down toward the end of the match with Mickie taking Gail out after Gail stops the pin fall and during the confussion, Taryn rolls Tara up for the win. After the match, Gail and Tara attacking Mickie and Taryn with Gail wrapping Taryn’s leg around the ring post and locking in the Figure Four leg lock followed up by “Eat Defeat” I expect the feud between Gail and Taryn to continue for a while longer.
Show Rating: 4
Ok, this TV taping was not great as we got only two good matches and one “Ok” match considering that there were five matches during the show. Having Sting as the new Number #1 Contender for the TNA is Bullshit as other Superstars deserve the tilte shot way before Sting. It seem to me like TNA pasted the first hour of the show together as the matches in the first hour had no real flow to them. I give D-Lo Brown props as he looked not bad in the ring and I wouldn’t have a problem seeing D-Lo wrestle again. Again the only promo segment that was good was the Dirty Heels\Bad Influence segment which when you have these four men either on the mic or wrestling in the ring, you know its going to be good. I really hope that next week’s show from Tupelo, MS as it is going to be Live.
