Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Impact Wrestling comes live from Indiana, Pennsylvania as tonight Bully Ray; TNA World Heavyweight Champion plans on confronting the Impact Wrestling GM; Hulk Hogan. What will Bully Ray and “Aces & Eights” have in store for Hogan? After being forced to tap out last week, what will “The Cowboy” James Storm have to say about his lost last week to AJ Styles? In a rematch for the TNA Tag Team titles, new Champions; Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez defend against former Champions; Dirty Heels (Bobby Roode and Austin Aries). Will Chavo and Hernandez be able to retain the TNA Tag Team titles or will Roode and Aries walk out with the gold? Also in another title match, Mickie James after becoming the Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title gets her title shot against the current Champion; Velvet Sky who is coming off a knee injury. Can Mickie once again capture the Knockouts title for a third time or will Velvet be able to overcome the odds and retain the Knockouts title? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Taryn Terrell pins Tara
Rob Terry pins Jesse
Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez defeat Dirty Heels (Bobby Roode & Austin Aries) to retain the TNA Tag Team titles
Velvet Sky pins Mickie James to retain the TNA Knockouts title
Table For One Please!!!
Ok Bully Ray, we know who the hell you are and who “Aces & Eights” are. While Bully Ray has really step it up as a top “Heel”, the promo was the same old bullshit that we’ve heard for weeks. TNA just dropped the ball this week with “Aces & Eights” as even the backstage segments were boring and forgettable. Sean Williams, John Mayer and Riley Ross also talked about this on Tuesday’s Shark Attack Radio Show saying the “Aces & Eights” has run its course and at this point, I agree with them. The Only good thing to come out of this segment was seeing Devon and Bully Ray 3D Joseph Park through a table.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Called, Wants His Gimmick Back
I guess that Robbie E now has a new sidekick as Robbie E came down with Jesse for Jesse’s match with Rob Terry which nothing more than a squash match. This was so boring that I actually fell asleep during the match. I know that TNA is trying to build up Rob Terry as a monster but he has no real personality and neither does Jesse. I would have rather seen Terry wrestle Robbie E then watching this match.
I swear TNA can’t make up their mind what they want to do with Matt Morgan. The Segment with Morgan and Hulk Hogan was terrible as Morgan kept saying that stupid shit over and over again. I mean Morgan and Hogan were so predictable in what they were saying that you knew that Hogan wasn’t going to name Morgan as the Number #1 Contender for the TNA World Heavyweight title. I like for Morgan to get a big push as he’s not bad as a big man but the push that TNA is doing now with Morgan sucks. I rather see Morgan tagging with Joey Ryan at this point.
For The Love of God, Dude Put A F@cking Shirt On!!!
Ok, I think the caption above clearly explains my thoughts about this segment. First it didn’t help with Bully Ray repeating the same stuff we heard though out the night about taking out all of the “Faces” in TNA and Hogan ripping the shirt off made things worst. Plus the lights going out was so obvious that Sting was going to be in the ring when the lights came back on. I do see TNA laying the seeds down another Hogan vs. Sting feud which nobody has any desire to see.
Let’s Get The Band Back Together
It was cool to see “The Cowboy” James Storm coming out to talk about losing to AJ Styles and about Styles new submission hold called Calf Killer. Things got interesting when Bad Influence came out to talk AJ into reforming Fortune to combat “Aces & Eights.” I liked how Storm wanted to beat the shit out of Daniels and Kazarian instead of reforming Fortune. Also I like how Daniels talked about Fortune being one of the greatest stables in the history of TNA which is true as Fortune held every Man’s titles at one point during the group’s history. Later in the show, Daniels and Kazarian tried to talk Roode into joining them in reforming Fortune which started a heated discussion between Roode and Austin Aries before their rematch for the TNA Tag Team titles.
Don’t F@uck With Blondes!!!
For the second week in a row, Taryn Terrell showed why she deserves to be on the Knockouts roster as this week Taryn took on Tara. I was amazed at the spinning neck breaker that Taryn hit on Tara that was very wicked. Tara was in control for most of the match of the match dominating Taryn with Tara getting cocky toward the end of the match when Taryn rolled Tara up into a schoolgirl to get the win after Tara went for the standing moonault. I think that if Taryn keeps improving into the ring then I see Taryn winning the Knockouts title.
Wrestling Under Bad Influence
While this is the fourth time that Chavo and Hernandez have wrestled Dirty Heels, the matches are always damn good. I liked the interaction between Aries and Roode at the beginning of the match due the discussion that Aries heard between Bad Influence and Roode. As the match progressed, Roode and Aries started working like a well oiled machine. There were times during the match that I thought that Roode and Aries were going to win the titles especially with the interference from Bad Influence but I like the ending that TNA went with as it sets up either a feud between Aries and Roode or Dirty Heels vs. Bad Influence which would be the better of the two.
The Knockouts Are Main Eventers!!!
It was great to see Mickie vs. Velvet as the last match of the night and it was the best match of the night with the crowd in Indiana, Pennsylvania hot for the match. I like the aggressiveness of Mickie during the match as she kept working on Velvet’s injured knee. Velvet fought through the pain kicking out of several pin attempts by Mickie including a pin attempt after Mickie hit the Thesz Press from the top rope. I thought that the ending of the match was a perfect to keep the belt on Velvet and slowly continue to turn Mickie “Heel.”
Show Rating: 7 ¼
Well this week’s Impact Wrestling was good as we got two Knockouts matches tonight which is unusual as most of the time we only get one Knockouts match on a show. I like that Taryn is getting time in the ring to show what Taryn can do in the ring which she has been very impressive with her skills in the ring. The possibility of Fortune reforming was also very interesting as Fortune were dominating during its time. The Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky match proved that Women wrestlers can wrestle in a main event and put on a damn good match. The fact that the crowd was into the match proves that point. Most the backstage and in ring segments failed for the most point especially the ending segment of the show. I think that the two Knockouts matches and the Tag Team titles match helped save the show. I can’t wait to see the return of Chris Sabin to the X Division next week as I expect to see in the X Division title picture real soon. I also hope that TNA follows up on the Bad Influence\Dirty Heels situation from tonight. Maybe TNA will do a better job with “Aces & Eights” next week but I’m not getting my hopes up.
