Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Impact Wrestling is the TV taping from Corpus Christi, TX. After taking the hard blow to the head at the end of the Full Metal Mayhem match against Bully Ray for the TNA World Heavyweight title, what is the condition of Jeff Hardy? Tonight, it’s the return of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles to the ring as Styles faces “The Cowboy” James Storm. Will Storm be able to knock some sense in Styles or will it be Styles who comes out with the win? Kurt Angle takes Wes Brisco and Garett Bischoff of “Aces & Eights” in Handicap match. Will Angle be able to overcome the odds and be able to get the win? Also Mickie James takes on Brooke Tessmacher to determine the Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title. Will Brooke make it two wins over Mickie in her home state or will Mickie prove why she’s the greatest women’s wrestler? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Wes Brisco & Garett Bischoff beat Kurt Angle in a Handicap match
Kenny King defeats Petey Williams & Xema Ion in a Triple Threat match to retain the TNA X Division title
Magnus vs. Devon for the TNA TV title was a No Contest
Mickie James pins Brooke Tessmacher to become the Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title
Devon pins Samoa Joe to retain the TNA TV title
AJ Styles beats “The Cowboy” James Storm by submission
We Suck!!! It’s Real! It’s Damn Real!!!
While the Handicap match was not bad, it wasn’t good either. I expect better action when Brisco and Angle was in the ring as I heard great things about Brisco’s wrestling abilities but so far I haven’t been impressed. While Angle was impressive in the match as he hit a wicked double Germen suplex on both Brisco and Bischoff, the ending ruin the match in my opinion. I think I might have enjoyed the match say if Anderson had been in the match. I think the old “use the chain” to win trick was boring way to end the match.
Devon Is The TV Champ?!?
Wow, TNA actually remembered that Devon is the TNA TV Champion by having him defend the TV title. It’s great that the TV was finally defended tonight but the first didn’t even happen because Magnus was jumped by Knux and Doc of “Aces & Eights.” So we got another TV title match with Devon defending the title against Samoa Joe which was a decent match but again the match ended with interference from members of “Aces & Eights” Mr. Anderson hit Joe with the brass knuckles to allow Devon to retain the title. I’ll be glad when TNA puts the TV title on someone else.
I’ve Got More Lives Than Kenny!
Please TNA I’m begging, “Get Rid of Joseph Park!” The character sucks and the angle with Park trying get Brooke Hogan and Bully Ray’s marriage annulled is ridiculous. I’m not waste my breath on this any further. Joseph Park sucks, end of story.
The Blue Print Doesn’t Meet The Code
Matt Morgan is getting on my nerves with his whining and bitching about Hogan not giving Morgan TNA title shot against Hardy instead of Bully Ray. Morgan has only had one match in the past few months and that was against Joseph Park. Morgan needs to shut his mouth and wrestle. Hopefully TNA will get somewhere with this Morgan angle that makes sense and soon.
That’s Going To Leave A Mark!
These Triple Threat X Division matches have really brought new life to the X Division and tonight’s X Division title match was no exception. I thought that the action was great especially when Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer on King which took King out for most of the match which I thought King sold move as being very devastating. Ion was not bad as he had some moments during the match including damn good DDT on Williams. One thing that I did like was that Williams kept King out of the match when King was slowly regaining his senses. King proves once again that he’s a lucky X Division Champion as he took out Williams a drop kick from behind and pinned Ion after Williams locked the Sharp Shooter on Ion. Good X Division match which is worth watching.
Oh yeah, my two girls; Mickie James and Brooke Tessmacher went at it tonight and boy they didn’t disappoint. The match did start off slow but once tempers flared up, the action. Both women at points during the match would in the referee’s face who just happens to be ODB. I think Mickie was on fire especially hooking a nice armbar submission on Brooke. Brooke came back hitting a hard face plant on Mickie followed by the Asstastic in the ring corner. After that it was tight match with Mickie getting the win by rolling Brooke into pin which Mickie was bridge to keep Brooke from kicking out. Later Mickie cut a promo talking about how she has been over looked for the past year and half and she’s tired of. Mickie said that it’s her time to shine and show why she’s the greatest women’s wrestler which looks to be setting the seeds for a “Heel” which is fine by me because we all know that “Bad Girls” are more fun. I agree with what Mickie had to say and can’t wait until Mickie faces Velvet Sky next week for the TNA Knockouts title.
We’re The Two Best Friends That Anyone Could Have
You’ve got to love Christopher Daniels and Kazarian; Bad Influence as they came out talking about now that Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez are the TNA Tag Team Champions, Bad Influence should get the next title shot. This brought out Dirty Heels (Bobby Roode and Austin Aries) who made it clear that they get the next title shot because it a “Fluke!” that Chavo and Hernandez even won the titles in the first place. I love the four arguing with Kazarian making fun Aries being a Vegan. Chavo and Hernandez came out and attack Roode and Aries while Daniels and Kazarian bailed out of the ring. So next week, Roode and Aries get their rematch against Chavo and Hernandez for the TNA Tag Team titles.
We Might Be Bad Asses!!!
I think that this week, TNA did a better job of making “Aces & Eights” look like total bad asses by showing interviews with members of the TNA roster who express their concerns about “Aces & Eights” and talk about how “Aces & Eights” were a threat to TNA referencing “Aces & Eights’ taking out Jeff Hardy. It was nice to hear “Faces” & “Heels” discussing the issue which helps make “Aces & Eights” bad asses. This is what TNA should have done several months ago but hopefully they’ll keep this going.
Sorry But This Is Going To Hurt!
AJ Styles made his return to the ring tonight boy did he pull out all of the stops as he showed he had a few tricks up his sleeves. Storm rock Styles throughout the match hitting the backstabber and Closing Time on Styles. Toward the end of the match, Storm tries for the Last Call but Styles blocks it and gets Storm into a vicious ankle lock which Storm taps out too giving Styles the win. After the match, Styles took out Bad Influence leaving fans wondering who’s side is Styles.
Show Rating: 6 ½
This week’s Impact Wrestling was good but not as good as last week’s. We had five matches not counting the Magnus vs. Devon match in which three of the five were very good matches. I think we’re seeing the start of a “Heel” turn for Mickie James which I’m all for. I don’t expect Mickie to win the Knockouts title next week but to win the title at Slammiversary. The X Division Triple Threat match was great and I can’t wait to see you will qualify to face King and Williams in the next X Division Triple Threat title match. Styles seem to be fresh and rested with his return to the ring. I kind of like the “Dark” AJ Styles and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next week. Again, Wes Brisco failed to impress me and the Handicap match to be boring. Also there was way too many interference ending to the matches tonight and that really took away from the story. Hopefully things will be better next week from Indiana, PA where Mickie James takes on Velvet Sky for the TNA Knockouts title and in a rematch for the TNA Tag Team titles; the new Champions; Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez take on the former Champions; Bobby Roode and Austin Aries.
Star of the Night: AJ Styles
