Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. It’s the TV taping from Jonesboro, AK as Brooke Hogan will confront her husband; Bully Ray the TNA Champion for the first time since Lockdown. What will Brooke Hogan have to say to Bully Ray? Jeff Hardy announced last week that his title rematch against Bully Ray for the TNA title will be a “Full Metal Mayhem.” in Corpus Christi, Texas. Will Hardy confront Bully Ray tonight? Tonight is the return of Gut Check as Adam Pearce faces Magno. Who will be able to impress the Gut Check judges? Also it’s the return of “The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams as William faces Mason Andrews and Sonjay Dutt in a triple threat match to determine who will get the open spot in the next triple threat match for the TNA X Division title. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Gail Kim & Tara defeat Taryn Terrell & Velvet Sky
Adam Pearce pins Mango
“The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams pins Mason Andrews in a triple threat match to win a spot in the next TNA X Division Triple Threat title match
“Aces & Eights” defeat Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Magnus, “Showtime” Eric Young and Joseph Park
It Isn’t Easy Being Sleazily
Well, last night we saw the return of Joey Ryan as he referee the Knockouts tag team match which took lot away from the match as all four women were great and the action was very good. I have no idea what TNA was thinking but it was very creepy having Ryan staring at the asses of the Knockouts but in Ryan’s defense I properly would too. However Ryan could have at least made some actual counts on pinfalls. I don’t know if TNA is planning on putting Ryan and Gail Kim as a pair but don’t use Ryan as a referee anymore TNA. At least Ryan got it in the end as Ryan got low blowed by Taryn Terrell.
No Gut No Check
I’ve heard great things about Adam Pearce from multiple people including the Leader of the Mayer Nation; “The Empire” John Mayer but I wasn’t impressed with what I saw. It looked to me as it looked like he was just going through the motions. Mango was impressive either as he botched several moves during the match including some kind springboard moonsault. To make matter worse, the crowd wasn’t that into the match. I think that had Pearce had a different opponent then he might have had a better match.
We’ve Seen This Before
The Brooke Hogan\Bully Ray segment was a shitty way to end Impact Wrestling as the segment fell short. I mean that we have seen this before with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon many years ago which was done better than this. I would have thought that TNA would have used the time building up for the Hardy vs. Bully Ray title match for next week. Besides, Brooke Hogan is terrible on screen and needs to be canned ASAP!
Taryn Terrell Can Wrestle
As I said last week, expect to see Gail Kim and Tara vs. Taryn Terrell and Velvet Sky and that’s what we got. I think that lot fans were unsure how Taryn was going to do in the ring but I think that Taryn did better then what I expected from her. Her moves had a great flow to them including the crossbody that Taryn hit on Gail and looked like she’s been wrestling for years which Taryn has only been wrestling for four years. Velvet, Tara and Gail were also impressive during this match but I was focusing on Taryn as I wanted to see what Taryn could do. I’m actually looking forward to next match between Taryn and Gail.
The Greatest Segment Tonight
Austin Aries was awesome during the TNA Tag Team Championship contract signing as he and Bobby Roode will defend the TNA Tag Team titles against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez next week in Corpus Christi, Texas. I like the fact that the stakes have raised with the match now being a 2 out of 3 falls and if Chavo and Hernandez fail to win then they are done as a tag team. I like how Hernandez didn’t like the stipulation of them splitting as tag team if they loose. I love it when Austin talked about both he and Roode being World Champions. I can’t wait for this match next week.
Hulk Hogan Hulks Up On AJ Styles
Normally I would give a “No Impact” to a Hulk Hogan segment as Hogan is boring with promos now but this time was very damn good as AJ Styles and “The Cowboy” James Storm were involved. Storm made lot of great points during the promo especially about the fact that he and Styles were with TNA from its beginning. I ready hope that TNA isn’t going to have Styles join “Aces & Eights” as the group is already too big as is.
The Destroyer Is Back!
“The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams made his return and he was F@ucking awesome showing fans who had seen him wrestle before what he can do. The fans were really behind Williams with Williams getting great reaction from the crowd as he hit a suicide dive on Andrews. Dutt was on his game hitting nice inverted DDT on Andrews plus a great springboard dropkick on both Andrews and Williams. The crowd went nuts when Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer on Andrews to win the match. I expect to Williams to be holding the TNA X Division title in the near future.
“Aces & Eights” Getting Dirty
The main event match was good considering that it was a 10 man tag team match which usually isn’t with that many men involved. TNA had control for the first part of the match with “Aces & Eights” had control of the second part. Erich Young took most of the beat down for his team until Park tagged in fight all five members of “Aces & Eights” “Aces & Eights” got the win after Doc low blow Park.
Show Rating: 6 ½
Ok, this week’s Impact Wrestling was somewhat better than last week with a great triple threat X Division match which saw the return of Petty Williams was the best match of the night. I was really impressed with Taryn Terrell as Taryn showed lot of decent moves in the ring which looked really good. I can’t wait to the TNA Tag Team title match next week which is now a 2 out of 3 Falls match. Also can’t wait to see where the AJ Styles\James Storm angle is going to out. If you missed this week’s impact Wrestling then I highly recommend that you catch the X Division Triple Threat to see to the return of Petty Williams because it’s worth watching.
Star of the Night: Petey Williams (Honorable Mention: Taryn Terrell)
