Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. We’re back in Chicago and tonight TNA World Heavyweight Champion; Bully Ray promises to explain his master plan being behind “Aces & Eights” After clothslining “The Cowboy” James Storm out of nowhere last week, will AJ Styles finally break his silence and explain his actions? Kenny King defends the TNA X Division title against Xema Ion and Sonjay Dutt in a triple threat match. Matt Morgan goes one on one with Joseph Park in a match that was made last week. Also Austin Aries and Bobby Roode defend the TNA Tag Team titles against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez in a match that was schedule last week. Plus Brooke Hogan will address the actions of Knockouts referee; Taryn Terrell’s recent actions involving Gail Kim. Will Brooke Hogan fire Taryn?   So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Dirty Heels (Austin Aries & Bobby Roode) defend Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez to retain the TNA Tag Team titles

Kenny King beats Xema Ion & Sonjay Dutt in a triple threat match to retain the TNA X Division title

“The Blue Print” Matt Morgan pins Joseph Park

Jeff Hardy defends Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe & Magnus in a 4 way to determine the Number #1 Contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

No Impact

Brooke Hogan = Shitty segment. I swear this girl couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag to save her life. I like the fact that TNA is doing a Knockouts feud that doesn’t involve the Knockouts title but Brooke Hogan took away from the segment in my opinion. Also I thought that Brooke Hogan was terrible in the closing part of the segment where Bully Ray is taunting Brooke Hogan. I will say that I did like the spear that Taryn hit on Gail. It’s going to being interesting to see what Taryn can do in the ring as Taryn has been training at OVW. OVW has trained some of the great female wrestlers including Beth Phoenix, Katie Lea (Winter), ODB and Mickie James. Taryn showed some potential when she wrestled in the WWE as Tiffany so I can’t wait to see what she can do in the ring.

Ok, Joseph Park vs. Matt Morgan was that bad but it wasn’t good either. I mean for crying out loud, the punches that Park was throwing didn’t even look like that they were hitting Morgan. Plus the chemistry just wasn’t there making the match boring to me but some reason the fans in Chicago were into this match. On a side note, I’m throwing out a suggestion to TNA fans that we start up a collection to buy some razor blades so that Matt Morgan can shave that hideous beard.

Ok, the silence AJ Styles is already starting to get on my nerves. I like to hear some explanation for Styles’s actions from last week. Also Taz interjecting himself into the interview that Mike Tenay was with Styles made no sense what so ever as TNA is turning Styles “Heel” I did like that fact that Storm came down to the confront Styles which helps build up to the feud between Styles Storm. I just felt that the segment could have been done better than Styles just standing like a zombie.

High Impact

The Bully Ray segments of Bully Ray explaining his master plan with “Aces & Eights” were well done. I thought the reasons for Devon and Garett Bischoff joining “Aces & Eights.” Also the explanation Bully Ray gave for D-Lo Brown being a part of “Ace & Eights” because the signs were there and most fans missed it including myself. This shows that TNA actually did great job planning out this storyline. I’m curious what TNA is going to do with “Aces & Eights” now that Bully Ray has been revealed as the leader of  “Aces & Eights.”

I guess the team of Austin Aries and Bobby Roode are now going to be known as “Dirty Heels” which I like. This was a damn good match with all four men were impressive during the match. Aries and Roode did a great job working on Hernandez with quick tags until Hernandez hit a double suplex on both Aries and Roode. Chavo was on fire especially when he blocked Aries’s attempt at the brain buster with the Three Amigos.    Hernandez was amazing with the Air Mexico dive from the ramp way onto Aries and Roode. I usually don’t interference finishes to matches lie this but in this case with Christopher Daniels attacking Chavo while Kazarian distracting the referee allowing Aries to roll up Chavo for the win. What was really cool was when Bad Influence then attacked Aries and Roode after the match which is interesting considering that both teams are “Heels” I can’t to see where TNA is going with Bad Influence and Dirty Heels.

TNA has changed the way the X Division is going to be done as the TNA X Division title will be defended in triple threat matches. Also if person who’s pinned is not the champion is out of future title shot. All three men in this match really put on one of a show of in ring action including Dutt hitting a springboard drop kick on King while Ion hit an awesome tornado DDT on King. But the “Holy Shit” spot of the match was when King hit a springboard neckbreaker on Dutt to win the match. I think King is doing a great job showing fans why he deserves to be the TNA X Division Champion.

While I’m sure most of us expected Jeff Hardy would get the first title shot against the new TNA Champion; Bully Ray but I liked that Jeff Hardy beat Angle, Joe and Magnus to earn the title shot. This match was the best match of the night as the crowd in Chicago was ready into the match as they were chanting “Angle” and “Joe.” I was very impress with Magnus during this match as at one point in the match, Magnus caught Hardy going for a cross body off the ropes and drove him to the mat followed by a hard elbow drop. Joe had fans really going as he hit a suicide dive on all three of his opponents on the outside of the ring. Angle was not bad as Angle hit a belly to belly suplex on Magnus and got Joe in the Angle Lock. Hardy won the match hitting the Swanton Bomb on Joe after Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on all three men. Now the question is when Hardy will have his title match against Bully Ray for the TNA title.

Show Rating: 6 ½

Final Thought

This wasn’t a bad Impact Wrestling considering that it was taped last week from Chicago but it wasn’t great episode either. We got three great matches but I felt that some segment just seem to drag on. I like the fact that we had two title match and I think that we need to more title matches since TNA is now only four live PPVs a year and the next PPV; Slammiversary XI doesn’t take place until June 2, 2013. I like the new rules to the X Division with the title being defended in triple threat matches where if the person who is pinned is not champion will be out of the title picture. I think that this will make the X Division match even more interesting. I want to see what’s going to happen now that Taryn Terrell is now a Knockout. Hopefully we’ll actually hear from AJ Styles and see where the Styles\Storm angle is going.
