Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. It’s the first the Impact Wrestling live on the road as Impact Wrestling is coming from Chicago, IL. Its also the Impact Wrestling after Lockdown where Bully Ray defended Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship with the help from “Aces & Eights” reveling that he is the President of “Aces & Eights.” What will the new TNA Champion; Bully Ray and “Aces & Eight” have to say tonight? Also will Hulk and Brooke Hogan address their feelings of Bully Ray’s betrayal? Also tonight, it’s the return of AJ Styles. What will AJ have to say to the Impact Wrestling fans? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Velvet Sky & Mickie James defeat Gail Kim & Tara
Rob Terry pins Robbie E.
“The Cowboy” James Storm pins Christopher Daniels
Sting vs. Austin Aries ends in a No Contest
Why Robbie E has jobbing lately is beyond me. This was a total squash match with Robbie E getting no offence what so ever. Yes, Rob Terry looks impressive but we can do without the stupid dance gimmick. I think that TNA should consider putting Robbie E with Joey Ryan as a tag team with would give Robbie E and Ryan something to do. This match is definitely on the list for TNA Glory Awards Match of the Year award Bro!
Seriously, another stupid Joseph Park segment? I still don’t get how most wrestling fans like this character. The crowd in Chicago was actually cheering for Joseph Park. I thought that it was a joke that they had Matt Morgan interact with Park. The only good thing coming out of this segment was Morgan hitting the Carbon Footprint on Park. The bad thing is that Morgan is going to wrestle Joseph Park next week on Impact Wrestling.
I have said on several occasions that Brooke Hogan is a terrible actress and even in the video package that aired tonight, her acting sucks. I think that most wrestling fans are tired of seeing Brooke Hogan on their TV screen and I’m one of them.
It’s good to see my girl, Mickie James back in the ring and Mickie had no ring rust what so ever. I was marking out when Mickie hit that awesome Enzuigiri on Gail Kim after being tagged into the match. I did like the team work between Velvet and Mickie especially when they double team Gail. We also saw more progression the buildup of the feud between Taryn Terrell as it was revealed that Taryn is on probation for her action at Lockdown. During the match, Gail kept getting into Taryn’s face which to Taryn slapping Gail in the face. The finish to the match was well booked with Mickie hitting the Thesz Press on Gail followed by Tara hitting the Widow’s Peak on Mickie with Velvet hitting the In Yo’ Face on Tara for the win. I’m curious to see who will challenge Velvet for the TNA Knockouts title but I expect that Velvet’s next opponent will be Mickie James.
Christopher Daniels and Kazarian were pure gold tonight as they dressed up as the Road Warriors and they had the Chicago crowd going. The match was damn good with the action going back and forth with Storm hitting The Last Call on Daniels and blocking Daniels BME before hitting a back stabber for the win. The big thing however to happen after the match when AJ Styles came down to the ring and ran off Daniels and Kazarian before turning on Storm by hitting Storm with a short clothsline. I think that Storm vs. Styles feud is going to be very interesting for sure.
Sting vs. Austin Aries was a very good match more to my surprise considering that Sting is not as good as he was years ago. Aries did an awesome job carrying Sting through the match as there were some great spots during the match. I loved when Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop on Aries and Aries kicked. I was super impress when Aries hit a running missile drop kick on Sting in the ring corner. Aries really knew how to work the crowd as he mocked Sting through out the match, I’m not upset about the finish of the match with “Aces & Eights” running at the end of match as it makes either Aries or Sting looking weak.
Bully Ray being revealed as the President of “Aces & Eights” was something I didn’t see coming as I thought that Jeff Jarrett would be the one to behind “Aces & Eights.” Bully Ray did a great through out the night with all of the “Aces & Eights” segments especially the opening and closing segments Bully Ray really had the crowd eating from his hands. I always thought that Bully Ray was better as a “Heel” then a “Face” and I’m glad that TNA realize it. I thought that the beat down that “Aces & Eights” gave the TNA roster was very effective and it makes me wonder what is going to happen next week.
Show Rating: 7 ¼
This was a very good Impact Wrestling as this was the first Impact Wrestling on the road as Impact Wrestling was live from Chicago as the arena looked packed. We had three damn good matches and the “Aces & Eights” segments were very well done. It will be very interesting to see what will happen next week with “Aces & Eights” and the TNA roster. I’m also curious to see if TNA is going to start building the lineup for Slammiversary which takes place on June 2 in Boston. I think that Impact is going to do great with the shows on the road and I hope that Impact Wrestling will come near where I live.
Star of the Night: Bully Ray
