Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. It’s the first Impact Wrestling from the UK as tonight’s Impact Wrestling was taped in Manchester, England. It’s also Open Fight Night as Kurt Angle faces Mr. Anderson of “Aces & Eights” inside a steel cage. Joseph Park makes his Impact Wrestling debut as Park will challenge a member of the TNA roster. Who will Joseph Park challenge tonight? Dixie Carter has a big announcement for TNA fans which Dixie says will change Impact Wrestling. What will this announcement be? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
Magnus beats Devon by disqualification
Joseph Park pins Robbie E.
Austin Aries pins Chavo Guerrero
Velvet Sky & “The Cowboy” James Storm defeat Tara & Jesse
Kurt Angle defeats Mr. Anderson by submission inside a steel cage
Please somebody get me something for my headache because watching Joseph Park wrestle is like watching Roseanne Barr sing the National Anthem, very painful. I actually feel bad that Robbie E was the one that had to job to Park. I will say that at least Park (Abyss) changed up his move set which help a little but by much. What blows my mind is how the crowd in Manchester was behind Joseph Park and he was getting decent pops. I think the thing that help was Robbie E bad mouthing the UK which got Robbie a lot of heat from the crowd. Honestly I think I could have tolerated this match better if it had been someone else jobbing to Park say like Garett Bischoff.
I’m kind of torn on this one as to whether this had “High Impact” or “No Impact” but after think about it, I decided to put this under “No Impact” While I like how TNA revealed that Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco were members of “Aces & Eights” but I saw this coming a mile away. TNA made too obvious that Bischoff and Brisco were going to be revealed as members of “Aces & Eights” The problem was that TNA used Brisco and Bischoff in segments involving “Aces & Eights” where Brisco and Bischoff were used as masked members. TNA should have kept Brisco and Bischoff out of the earlier “Aces & Eights” segments which would have helped make the reveal more shocking.
I understand the whole Hulk Hogan segment with Brooke Hogan, Sting and Bully Ray was to follow up with the wedding angle from two weeks ago but still I wished that the segment had been shorter. I mean that they spent two to three minutes rehashing stuff that we already know. I hate that Bully Ray is stuck in this angle but at least Bully Ray is a major storyline even if the storyline sucks. It will be interesting to see who from “Aces & Eights” will face Bully Ray and Sting in a Tables match next on Impact wrestling.
Christopher Daniels and Kazarian were on fire with their promo segment as they ready got the crowd fired up. Daniels and Kazarian were funny as hell dressed as Scotts spoofing Braveheart. I’m surprised that Bad Influence’s promo barely touched on Daniels going to for the TNA title as they briefly mention the title match from last week. Then they briefly interacted with Magnus who got a huge from his home country. I don’t know what the point was having Daniels and Kazarian to come out but it worked for me.
Magnus was over with the crowd and had a good match with Devon of “Aces & Eights” It was good to see Magnus called out Devon which was cool for TNA to actually follow up with “Aces & Eights” attack on Magnus from back in October of last year. The match itself was good with Magnus in control for most of the match. After Devon uses the ropes to nailed Magnus in the groins it got the crowd even more on Magnus’s side. The match end in a disqualification which worked as it gave Magnus a homecoming win without making “Aces & Eights” look weak. I hope that TNA will Magnus a push by having Magnus feud with Devon over TNA TV title.
Ok, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode are pure gold as a team and didn’t fail to entertain with their promo about wanting all the gold in TNA with Austin including the Knockouts title which I got a big laugh out of. The match between Aries and Chavo Guerrero was awesome with fast pace action as both men were on top of their game. Lot of people complain about Chavo being overrated which I believe is untrue as he and Aries put on one hell of a match, especially when Chavo hit the Three Amigos on Aries followed up by the Frog Splash. Aries was perfect hitting that fast drop kick on Chavo followed by the Brain Buster to get the winning. With this win, Aries and Roode now will get a title shot match against Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez for the TNA Tag Team titles.
Now I have read and listen to people complain about “The Cowboy” James Storm being involved in this mixed tag team with Velvet Sky as his partner going against Tara and Jesse and while I agree that Storm should be the Main Event picture but this wasn’t a bad match. I thought Storm did a great job putting over Jesse offense and had some great spots during the match including hitting the Last Call on Jesse. Velvet also shine in this match when she and Tara went at it toward the end of the match with Velvet getting in most of the offense. Velvet won the match after hitting In Yo’ Face! to get the win for her team. I expect Velvet to get another title show against Tara for the Knockouts title during the UK tour.
Well, Dixie Carter made her big announcement and it was huge. Dixie announced that starting on March 14th, TNA will be airing Impact Wrestling live on the road with the first Impact Wrestling coming from Chicago. The TNA Haters have always used the excuse as to why they TNA is because of the Impact Zone. Now that TNA is going on the road permanently with Impact Wrestling, I want to see if the haters will still complain and bitch how sucks being on the road. I hope that TNA will bring Impact Wrestling near my area as I love to go to a live show. I believe that 2012 is going to be an interesting year for TNA.
What can I say about Angle vs. Anderson inside a steel cage expect it was f#@!cking awesome. This was at 18 minute match which had great action through out the match. I loved how Anderson counter the Angle slam one point during the match with the Kenton Bombon on Angle. The match for the most part was back and forth match with Anderson at one point hitting the Mic Check on Angle out of nowhere. Angle was awesome hitting the Angle Slam from top rope on Anderson. I thought the ending of the match was great with Angle hitting a power bomb from the cage on Anderson and going for a pin attempt which Anderson kicks out of only to find himself in the Angle Lock which gives Angle the win by submission.
Show Rating: 7 ¾
This was a very good Impact Wrestling as it was taped in the UK last week. Four on the five matches were very good with Angle vs. Anderson being the best match of the night. The UK crowd was hot through out the show and were really into all of the matches. I liked the big announcement from Dixie Carter and I do feel that it’s going to change TNA for the better. I hope that the rest of the Impact Wrestling shows from the UK have the same kind of feel as this one had. I think TNA made the right choice by taping Impact Wrestling while on their UK tour.
Star of the Night: Kurt Angle & Mr. Anderson
