With Riley Ross
Welcome back to Riley’s Corner where I breakdown the Christmas Eve edition of RAW! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you all. Follow me @dibiaseangel on Twitter. Tonight we are live from Pittsburgh, PA and we have Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler on commentary.
The show opens with all the superstars and divas on stage singing a song with John Cena conducting them. Trying to drink while watching this is not a great idea but the cartoon graphics they did were amazing.
Santa Claus is the guest host of RAW. I don’t think this is going to end well for Santa. It never does when he is on RAW. ADR’s music hits and he comes out in a nice car and hits Santa. Big props to the crowd for chanting ‘you killed Santa’ and I don’t know why but I am finding this skit hilarious. Santa gives a thumb up to the crowd to assure them that he is okay.
The superstars are lined up in a hallway to get a status on Santa Claus as Booker T comes out to update them. He tells them the show must go on. They yell when Del Rio comes to the back and John Cena yells at him for ruining Christmas Eve. Del Rio blames Santa for the accident. Santa books a match between Del Rio and John Cena.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kane—For the love of facial hair, please shave your mustache Cody. Cody does get some offense in especially when dropkicking Kane in the knee. Nice punch to the throat by Kane. Cody goes to the top rope and drop kicks Kane in the face. This match has lots of back and forth action but for the life of me I cannot stop laughing at Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole’s commentary. Rhodes is working on the left arm/shoulder of Kane. Kane gets the win with a chokeslam.
Natalya/Kaitlyn/Alicia/Layla vs. Eve/Aksana/Rosa/Tamina—Aksana and Natalya start the match off. Nice clothesline from Natalya. Poor Alicia Foxy for having to endure a few seconds of Aksana crawling to her. Layla comes in to face Tamina and gets distracted by the loudmouth Rosa. Tamina and her teammates keep Layla from making the tag. Sorry but not really Rosa sucks as a diva. Here comes Eve and here comes Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn has shown improvement as a diva and she dominates Eve. All hell breaks loose as the divas do their finishers on one another. Kaitlyn gets the victory over Eve.
AJ and Dolph Ziggler are shown cuddling in an office. Her favorite movie is the PPV TLC where she costs Cena the Money in the Bank match.
Matt Striker tells us that the medical personnel are still working on Santa.
Lumberjack Frost match between Sheamus and Big Show—For the life of me I cannot get into this match. Sheamus gets Show into a side head lock until Show punches him repeatedly. You know the chops had to hurt when all the lumberjacks wince. Sheamus hits Show with the Battering Ram and goes for the Brogue Kick but Show rolls out of the ring. Sheamus wins. All lumberjacks get into the ring, the heels attack Sheamus but the faces save the day.
David Otunga vs. Zack Ryder—While Otunga is ranting against Santa. Ryder comes out to interrupt. Never thought I would say this but I am thankful for Ryder. Otunga is sloppy as hell in the ring. Ryder hits the Rough Ryder for the win.
Booker T and Teddy Long are shown backstage talking. They are laughing about Otunga losing as Brad Maddox comes out to talk to them. Booker T tells him that he is awful but decides to grant him one more chance to win a contract. He says that all he has to do is beat one of Santa’s helpers.
Wade Barrett/Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz/Kofi Kingston—Cesaro and the Miz start off the match. Miz takes it to Cesaro until the bald champion reverses it. Here comes Barrett trying to beat the stuffing out of the Miz. Nice vertical dropkick from the Miz and here comes Kofi. Kingston is dominating Barrett with his kicks. He goes for Trouble In Paradise but Barrett ducks out of the ring. Miz gets the win with the SCF.
Back to AJ and Dolph in the back giving each other gifts. She gives him the MITB briefcase with a pretty red ribbon. She has one more present and reveals a cutout tee shirt of his.
Brad Maddox comes out to the ring singing. Someone needs to punch him in the throat. I wish someone in the audience would have thrown a chair at him. Hornswoggle comes out dressed like Santa’s little helper but he isn’t Maddox’s opponent.
Brad Maddox vs. The Great Khali—Maddox doesn’t look happy. Khali is dominating Maddox and the chops sound vicious as hell. Maddox gets thrown out of the ring and Hornswoggle jumps on him. Maddox gets back into the ring and goes after Khali’s knees. Khali slaps him in the head and Maddox kicks him. Maddox flies off the top rope but Khali slaps him down. Khali hits him with the chokeslam and wins. Hornswoggle and Khali dance around the ring to celebrate their win. Who in the blue blazes thought it was a great idea for Khali to sing to us? Y’all are sick and demented.
CM Punk and Paul Heyman come to the ring. I have never been so happy to Punk in my entire life. A tip of the hat to Punk for navigating the ramp with crutches; I cannot walk very well with crutches. He mocks Khali’s singing and the city of Pittsburgh. The crowd starts a Steelers chant and Punk calls them out for cheering for losers. Punk has been champion for 400 days. He blames Ryback for his injury and blames Ryback for ruining the holidays. He wants Ryback to be punished for his injury. Paul Heyman is magic on the microphone. Here’s an idea put him on commentary. Ryback comes out and says that in two weeks he will face CM Punk on the first RAW of the year.
Daniel Bryan vs. Damien Sandow—Sandow chants ‘Silence’ while Daniel Bryan responds with his chant of NO. They take the match outside of the ring briefly and when they get back into the ring, DB dominates Sandow. Daniel Bryan gets the win with the Ankle Lock.
Usos/Santino/Brodus Clay/Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel vs. PTP/3MB/Tensai—Brodus Clay starts the match with Darren Young. He squashes Young in the corner before tagging in Tyson Kidd. Kidd mocks the barking noises that Young’s tag partner makes. He tags in Gabriel and they double team Young. Young then tags in Tensai and he brutally dominates Gabriel. Until Gabriel turns it around with a kick to the face. Santino comes in and gets laid out by Tensai who then tags in Jinder Mahal. One of the Usos gets tagged in and they dominate Drew McIntyre. Usos get the win with a splash drop on Heath Slater.
Kane and Daniel Bryan are shown backstage. Kane hands DB a box containing a Slammy. DB hands Kane a dog wearing a sweater. Kane says thanks I am starving. DB says the dog is a friend not food. Back to the AJ and Dolph ZIggler. She reads to him her version of Night Before Christmas. I will agree with her that he is the best butt wiggler in the WWE. That will change though if Ted DiBiase is ever on TV again. They knock over the Christmas tree.
John Cena vs. ADR—This is a street fight which might be its only saving grace. Poor Ricardo crying for Santa while trying to introduce ADR. Del Rio and Cena beat each other with weapons. They get the weapons from opening presents that are around the ramp. Ricardo has the sleeper hold locked onto Cena and he freaks out when Santa comes out. Santa then delivers the Mandible Claw to ADR. Thank you Mick Foley. John Cena wins yet again another main event match.
In closing I have to give tonight’s show an A+ due to the holidays. In all honesty it was a decent show. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and or happy holidays. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @Dibiaseangel or @RileyRoss7. Have a good day and a better tomorrow.
