With Riley Ross
Welcome back to Riley’s Corner and my snarky take on what happened on SmackDown. Tonight we have the unfunny and untalented JBL and Josh Matthews on commentary. Hearing these two make me long for the days of Mike Adamle. At least he was semi-funny although 99% of the time it was unintentional. Please put someone else on commentary.
Tonight’s show opens up with a recap of the Shield’s attack on the Miz, Kane and Daniel Bryan. Also we get the statement from the Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon stating that CM Punk suffered a knee injury and had to have emergency surgery. Unfortunately Punk will not be able to compete at TLC but Ryback will still compete with Team Hell No and take on Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. It will be a TLC match and will be decided only by pinfall or submission.
The SmackDown GM is in the middle of the ring to address the Sheamus and Big Show situation. He shows the clip from last month where Sheamus and Big Show attack each other in a parking lot. The beleaguered GM wants them to have a no contact order until TLC. To make it official he has them sign a contract. If Big Show violates this he will be stripped of the title. Both men come out to ring to sign the contract. Sheamus signs while cutting a promo on the Big Show. He is threatening to end the Show’s career at TLC. After Show signs he cuts a promo on Sheamus. He then flips the table over on the former champ. I am kind of disappointed that Big Show didn’t scream ‘Prostitution Whore’ while flipping the table. I know that was a reference to a certain reality show and I can assure you that I will probably reference more of those later on tonight or in future reviews.
Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan—I really feel bad for Daniel Bryan for having to face the angry giant. Daniel Bryan gives as good as he gets as he trades punches with Big Show. It was nice seeing chops traded back and forth between the two men. Big Show wins with a chokeslam as the Shield makes their way to the ring. They wait until he leaves before they attack Daniel Bryan. Kane comes down to save his partner but the three men focus their attention on him.
Daniel Sandow comes out to look for an apprentice from the crowd. Of course the guy who gets the opportunity blows the last question and gets verbally berated. Here comes the MIZ!!!!! YES!! I am controlling my inner fangirl and not squeeing like a maniac right now. Miz makes fun of Damien Sandow and mocks his ‘you’re welcome’. Why so quiet Sandow? Did you get schooled?
Brodus Clay and the Usos vs. 3MB—I think the intro was longer than the match itself. While Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater attack Brodus Clay; Drew McIntyre takes on the USO. He gets the win
Matt Striker interviews Wade Barrett. Barrett says he is going to take out the Viper. Say that Orton should be concerned with the Bull Hammer as he points to his elbow.
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett—Kofi Kingston is on commentary. Lots of action between the Viper and the Brawler. Barrett takes the action to the outside of the ring before throwing Orton back into the ring. Who else besides me thinks that Orton should turn heel ASAP? Barrett tries to expose the turnbuckle but Kingston stops him and Orton hits the RKO on Barrett for the win.
Great Khali and Hornswoggle vs. Primo and Epico—Wow way to sink to an all new low with this crappy ass booking. What in the hell is JBL smoking if he thinks SmackDown is the A show? While the semblance of a match is going on Rosa starts dancing but Hornswoggle trips her. As she chases him Natalya takes her down. Natalya can be used better than this!! When Khali got knocked out of the ring, Primo and Epico go after Hornswoggle. Great Khali and Hornswoggle get the win.
Antonio Cesaro is in the ring once again berating America. Here comes R-Truth to interrupt him. Thank you R-Truth. He tells Cesaro that he needs a dose of the truth. Kick his ass Truth. He makes his way to the ring and tackles Cesaro. Cesaro doesn’t stick around as he runs like a scalded cat.
Sheamus vs. ADR—Oh yay it’s the charismatic ADR (Sarcasm). Just because you come from a wrestling family that doesn’t automatically make you talented. There is lots of back and forth action between the two superstars. Sheamus gets the win via submission. He unlike another Superstar added a new move to his set list. Oh wait I shouldn’t have said that as Cena might cry.
In closing tonight’s show gets an A. Match of the night goes to Randy Orton and Wade Barrett. Plus there wasn’t any John Cena. I am sending get well soon wishes to CM Punk. I do however like the feud between Cesaro and R-Truth. Make sure you all check out http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-shark-attack-live. We’ll be airing Tuesday at 10 pm ET Call in at (347) 945-6363. Have a good night and a better tomorrow.
