Making An Impact: TNA Impact Wrestling Review for 10-25-12

Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight is Thursday Championship night as three titles will be on the line as Hulk Hogan chooses one of the following men; “The Cowboy” James Storm, Kurt Angle, Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson to face the new TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Jeff Hardy in the main event. Also two other titles are on the line as two former champions get their rematches. Rob Van Dam defends the TNA X Division title against Xema Ion while TNA Knockouts Champion, Tara defends against Brooke Tessmacher. After the stand off last week between the TNA roster and “Aces & Eights”, what will “Aces & Eights” have in store tonight? After their confrontation last week, will Austin Aries involve himself in the main event tonight? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Matches

Rob Van Dam pins Xema Ion to retain the TNA X Division title

Samoa Joe defeats Robbie T. by submission to retain the TNA TV title

Austin Aries defeats Mr. Anderson by submission knockout

Tara pins Brooke Tessmacher to retain the TNA Knockouts title

Jeff Hardy pins Kurt Angle to retain the TNA title.

No Impact

I’m going keep this one short because I’ve bitch about this so many times that it gives me a freaking headache. TNA, stop having Hulk Hogan on the show every 15 minutes. I think that TNA could have done Hogan segment with Hogan picking who will face Jeff Hardy in one segment. This is a bitch of a lot of people on the Internet Wrestling Community which I totally agree with. Also TNA while you’re at it, get rid of Brooke Hogan and keep her off my TV. I swear that Brooke Hogan looks like she’s on the roids. I’m just saying.

While Chris Daniels and Kazarian pointed out that they have an automatic rematch for TNA Tag Team titles, was it really necessary for the petition angle in order to get their title shot against Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez? The segment came off being cheesy and the crowd wasn’t really into the segment. I’m sure we’ll see Daniels and Kazarian vs. Chavo and Hernandez for the TNA Tag Team titles at Turning Point.

High Impact

Holy Shit! We got four title matches tonight which made tonight’s show truly Championship Thursday. Every singles titles were defended tonight with the exception of the TNA Tag Team and TNA Knockout Tag Team titles which is no surprise with the Knockouts Tag Team titles as they have no real value anymore. This is what TNA needs to do when they have Championship Thursday in the future because it works.

Damn, again TNA has Samoa Joe defending the TV title on Impact Wrestling. This is what should be happening as the TV title should be defended on TV. Another good thing is that TNA is booking Joe like a monster which is cool. It’s nice to see Joe getting a push despite it being with the TV title. I think what Joe only needs a good feud now which hopefully will be Magnus as Joe and Magnus had a very good match at Bound for Glory. Maybe we’ll see a rematch at Turning Point.

Tonight’s show started off with a different announce team with Jeremy Borash and a new guy named Todd Keneley for the first hour of Impact Wrestling which freshen to see. I don’t know if this is a permanent thing or TNA was just experimenting to see how the new guy would do on TV, I don’t know. Personally I thought that Borash and Keneley did a good job and I wouldn’t mind seeing continuing Borash and Keneley announcing again. Hell, maybe if TNA does a second show on Spike TV, they can use Borash and Keneley as the announce team.

God I love it when Austin Aries is on Impact Wrestling because he makes the show enjoyable despite being a heel. The match between Aries and Mr. Anderson was good and I love that suicide dive that Aries does because hew hits that damn thing hard. I loved it when Aries knock out Anderson with brass knuckles and then threw Anderson on top of him to make it look like he’s kicking out of Anderson’s pin attempt. After kicking out, Aries hook Anderson who is out into the Last Chancery for the submission win. I laughed when Aries point to the brass knuckles as he was leaving the ring and said “Cheaters never win” That was so classic, that’s why Aries is the greatest man that ever live.

Man, Brooke Tessmacher just keeps improving every time she steps into the ring. Her match tonight with Tara was great and Brooke showed a mean streak that was great to see from her. Despite not winning the match, Brooke proved that she’s a wrestler not a model. One of my favorite part of the match hit a hard Asstastic on Tara in the ring corner. Tara was great too in the match as she hit the Widow’s peak on Brooke for the win. I doubt that Brooke will be facing Tara for the Knockouts title as ODB pinned Tara last week but TNA could do a triple threat match for the Knockouts tile at Turning Point but I look for it to be ODB vs. Tara.

Bully Ray had the crowd eating out of his tonight when he confronted Devon and “Aces & Eights” wanting an explanation from Devon about Devon’s actions at Bound for Glory. I thought that Bully Ray’s explanation why he turned on Devon worked to keep fans on Bully Ray’s side. Also, I thought TNA did a decent job explaining why the other members of “Aces & Eights” are still wearing mask despite the fact that’s the first that TNA Star should be trying to the mask off of them. I expect interference next week when Bully Ray challenges Devon as next week is Open Fight Night. I think that we’re the actual match Between Devon and Bully Ray at Turning Point.

I thought that Angle vs. Hardy for the TNA title was awesome as these two put on one hell of a match. I thought that both men did a great job making the match even and that at anytime Angle could actually win. Hardy did a great job kick out of the Angle Slam and rolling out of the Angle Lock. Angle also avoided Hardy’s attempts at the Swanton Bomb. I had no problem with this match ending in a rollup as it was perfect way to end an even match. I still don’t like that Jeff Hardy’s customer belt but at least he’s carrying the actual TNA belt to the ring too. We found out thanks to Austin Aries that he’s invoking his rematch against Hardy at Turning Point after Aries attack Hardy after the match and took the actual TNA belt with him.

I like the aggression from Matt Morgan at it seams that TNA had figure out how to push Morgan. When Morgan came into the ring after the RVD vs. Ion match and hit the “Carbon Footprint” on RVD. Morgan doing quick one minutes promos is much better for Morgan as he’s not great with long promos. I’m still trying to figure out what the deal is with Morgan and Joey Ryan. Speaking of Joey Ryan, it looks like TNA is setting the seeds for a feud between RVD and Ryan for the X Division title. Don’t be surprised to see Rob Van Dam vs. Joey Ryan for the TNA X Division at Turning Point.

Show Rating: 7 1/2 out of 10

Final Thoughts

This was a better Impact wrestling compared to last week. Four of the five matches were title matches with Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy being the best match of the night. Also we saw seeds being setup for future matches to be made for Turning Point. I thought the opening to Impact Wrestling with fans at home hearing Hardy’s monologue playing in his head was weird but interesting at the same time. Defiantly can do without Hulk or Brooke Hogan on my TV screen but Hulk Hogan I can stand if he’s limited to a five minute segment. Open Fight Night looks like it’s going to be damn good next week but we’ll have to wait and see.

Star of the Night: Jeff Hardy & Kurt Angle
