Making An Impact: TNA Impact Wrestling Review for 10-04-12

Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. Tonight is the TNA debut of KingMo who will be the special enforcer for the James Storm vs. Bobby Roode match at Bound for Glory. What kind of impact will KingMo make tonight? Last week “Aces & Eights” laid down the challenge for a tag team match between two members of “Aces & Eights” and two members of the TNA roster at Bound for Glory. Who will Hulk Hogan pick from the TNA roster face “Aces & Eight” at Bound for Glory? With tensions between Jeff Hardy and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion; Austin Aries building, what Aries have to say this week about Hardy stealing the spotlight last during their tag team match? Also in tag team action, Tara teams up with Gail Kim to take on ODB and the TNA Knockouts Champion; Brooke Tessmacher. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Mr. Anderson pins Gunner

Tara & Gail Kim defeat ODB & Brooke Tessmacher

Samoa Joe pins Rob Van Dam to retain the TNA TV Championship

Chavo Guerrero pins Kurt Angle

Douglas Williams wins by disqualification against Xema Ion with Ion retaining the TNA X Division title

Bully Ray beats Austin Aries & Jeff Hardy in a non-title triple threat match

No Impact

Believe it or not but I really don’t have anything bad to say about this week’s Impact Wrestling. The only thing that I didn’t like is Bruce Prichard. While both segments that Prichard was involved on were important and further some storylines, I don’t like how Prichard came across as this asshole boss who treats his employees like shit. Speaking from personal experience, I don’t think this is the kind of message TNA should sending to their viewers. Bruce Prichard trying to initiate employees is bullshit and I wish that TNA would pull Prichard off of TV.

High Impact

In my PIPE BOMB! this week, I said that TNA would be booking Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow for Bound for Glory and I was right. I thought that the segment came across very well and I actually liked Ryan’s cocky attitude and his reaction when Snow revealed that Ryan would be wrestling him at Bound for Glory. From what I have read, Joey Ryan has a decent fan base from his time on the independent circuit and it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction both Ryan and Snow will get at Bound for Glory.

This week’s Knockouts match was much better this week as the action was great. I loved it when Brooke Tessmacher hit the Asstastic on Gail Kim which of course got a huge pop. Tara did a great getting over as a heel and the action between her and Brooke was damn good and I can’t wait for their match at Bound for Glory. I think that having Gail Kim and ODB helped in keeping the anticipation for Brooke and Tara locking up going which kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Wow, Samoa Joe is already defending the TV title just after winning the TV title last week. I thought that the match was good as RVD had some offense during the match and blocked Joe’s first attempt at the Muscle Buster. This was Joe’s time to shine and show that he was the right choice to put the TV title on. I like the fact that TNA is going back to having the TV Champion defending the TV title every week which it show be. TNA also announce that Joe will defend the TV title at Bound for Glory against Magnus which is great as it follows up on the animosity between Joe and Magnus.

Hey we had a X Division match this week and it was for the X division title. I was surprised that Douglas Williams was Xema Ion’s opponent. I think that TNA is building Ion as a pretty boy who a bad ass. Williams had most of the offense during the match but Ion took advantage of William ramming his shoulder into the ring post. Ion made Williams summit with a vicious arm break but the referee reverse the decision and disqualified Ion. I loved Ion’s comments after the match when he said “I’m just not “F”ing pretty, I’m pretty “F”ing dangerous.”

The Chavo Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle match was interesting as the tensions between team of Angle and Styles and the team of Guerrero andHernandez which should make the triple threat tag team title match at Bound for Glory even better. Chavo has control for the first part of the match while Angle was in control in the second after of the match. While I’m not a fan of the quick rollup, it works in this case. The distraction by Hernandez just adds more fire the tension and is peaking my interest in the triple threat match for the TNA Tag Team titles at Bound for Glory even more.

I thought that the triple threat match between Bully Ray, Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries served two purposes. One, it setup Bully Ray becoming Sting’s partner in the tag team match against “Aces & Eights” at Bound for Glory. Two, we got more build up of the growing animosity between Hardy and Aries. The action was good in this match and it made sense for Bully Ray to win the match. Now this gives Bully Ray the right to say that he should get the next shot at the TNA title as he has pin both Aries; the TNA Champion and the Number #1 Contender; Hardy.

I’m glad that Hulk Hogan will not be wrestling at Bound for Glory and that the Hogan\Sting segments highlighted the importance of the tag team match at Bound for Glory which Hogan came across as seriously concern. Sting looks to be ready for Bound for Glory and I think that Sting can put on a good match at Bound for Glory especially since it’s a tag team match. The “Aces & Eights” segment was good but I could done without seeing Joseph Parks. I’m hoping that TNA will get rid of the Joseph Parks character at Bound for Glory and bring back Abyss. It’s going to be interesting to see what’s going to happen next week.

I thought the debut of KingMo was ok as the crowd really seemed to get behind King Mo. Roode was great as the classic heel when Mo confront Roode after Roode’s comments. The interaction between Bobby Roode and James Storm was terrific as you could feel the hatred between the two men. It will be interesting to see what kind of effect that King Mo with on the Storm vs. Roode match at Bound for Glory. Maybe next week we hear what King Mo has to say about being the special enforcer for the match at Bound for Glory.

Show Rating: 8 ¾ out of 10

Final Thoughts

Wow, this was a damn good Impact Wrestling as just about everything pushed match already set for Bound for Glory and new matches. We got six matches which two of the matches were title matches. The two big focuses of the night were Aries\Hardy and “Aces & Eights” against TNA. All of the matches were good especially the triple threat match. I can’t wait for Bound for Glory as TNA has done a great job in the build up with this PPV. I hope that TNA keep this going because this week’s Impact Wrestling was off the charts.
