Making An Impact
With Billy James
Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. It’s getting to the end of the Bound for Glory series as tonight we have three great Bound for Glory series matches. “The Cowboy” James Storm takes on Rob Van Dam while AJ Styles faces Samoa Joe. In the main event, it’s a do or die situation as Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy with the looser out of the Bound of Glory series. Also what will “Aces & Eights” have in store for Hulk Hogan and the Impact roster? Will Austin Aries address the brutal attack from last week by “Aces & Eights”? So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”
“The Cowboy” James Storm pins Rob Van Dam in a Bound for Glory Series match.
ODB beats Madison Rayne
Samoa Joe pins AJ Styles in a Bound for Glory Series match.
Jeff Hardy pins Kurt Angle in a Bound for Glory Series match.
Much as I love the Knockouts, last night’s Knockouts match sucked. I thought for a minute that I was watching a WWE Divas match. What was the point of having the match in the first place? Couldn’t Madison have wrestled someone like Tara and TNA still do the ODB segment? And did we really need to see Eric Young first strip down to his underwear and making out with ODB? While I’m not a big fan of ODB, I think that she does bring lot to the Knockouts division and that her talents are being wasted in this stupid angle with Young. TNA needs to go ahead and just retire the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles as they have no value now. This Knockouts match was the worst match of the night.
What the hell TNA? For the second week in a row we saw nothing from Bobby Roode. What a major letdown as we get no follow up to that promo that Roode cut two weeks ago. I think that fans want to know what’s next for Bobby Roode and TNA has failed to deliver. I seriously doubt we’ll hear anything for Roode next week either.
The Hulk Hogan/Sting segments were just terrible. Sting was not funny plus the interaction between Hogan and Sting was just plain boring. Speaking of boring, do we really another storyline involving Joseph Park? TNA please bring back Abyss and get rid of the Joseph Park character. Also Christopher Daniels, get rid of the martini because James Bond you’re not.
Austin Aries was on fire with his promo at the beginning of Impact Wrestling as Aries cut one hell of a promo on “Aces & Eights”. I think that Aries did a great job empathizing the importance of the TNA title as it should be. The TNA World Heavyweight Championship title is the most prestigious title in professional wrestling today that two guys actually tried to steal the TNA title at a live TNA event. I’m still waiting to find out who is going to face Aries at No Surrender.
TNA is actually doing a great job with the “Aces & Eights” angle which is properly the best storyline they have done in a while. It’s kind of cool to see the Impact roster; “Faces” and “Heels” come to together to take on “Aces & Eights.” The man that came in and attack Aries toward the end of Impact Wrestling who looked to me to possibly be Garrett Bischoff. That would be a great twist if it is Garrett as I think most fans wouldn’t see that coming. I’m sure we’ll see a match between members of the TNA roster and “Aces & Eights” either at No Surrender or at Bound for Glory which I think that’s the PPV where the match will happen.
The 2012 Bound for Glory series is coming to a close and it has been great. All three matches showed how important the Bound for Glory series is to each man. Each match had some great spots including Storm hitting the Last Call on RVD in the ring corner as RVD came toward Storm with a rolling monkey flip. Joe shocked AJ Styles when AJ went for a Fujiwara armbar and Joe was able to roll AJ onto his back pinning AJ. AJ Styles is now out of the Bound for Glory series as this was his last singles match in the series.
The best match of the night for sure had to Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle. Angle and Hardy put on a four star match that had so close pin falls, it had you on the edge of your seat. Hardy hit Angle with the Whisper in the Wind and a Swanton Bomb but Angle kicked out to the shock of Hardy. However the same thing happen to Angle when Angle hit the Angle Slam on Hardy and locked in the Angle only for Hardy to escape. The crowd was really into this match and the crowd’s excitement came across TV showing it. In the end, Hardy finally was able to pin Angle after hitting a second Swanton Bomb. Now Angle is out of the Bound for Glory series which sucks as I thought Angle would be in the final four.
Show Rating: 7 out of 10
Damn good Impact Wrestling with three great matches. This Bound for Glory series has been much better than last year’s. We now know that “The Cowboy” James Storm is heading to the finals at No Surrender as Storm has the high score of 73 points which only Samoa Joe has a chance of pasting Storm. Joe also heading to the finals as Hardy, Bully Ray or RVD can’t past his score of 68 points. As I said earlier, Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy stole the show with their match and it was the right match for the main event. The match that is going to decide who’s going on to the Bound for Glory series finals at No Surrender is Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy. If Hardy beats Joe next week then Hardy is going to the finals. But if Hardy looses to Joe, then both Bully Ray and RVD go to the finals regardless who wins the Bully Ray vs. RVD match which is also next week. I think that the final four at No Surrender will be, “The Cowboy” James Storm, Samoa Joe, Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy. I guess we’ll find out next week. Also maybe we’ll find out what the rest of the card at No Surrender is going to be.
