Making An Impact: TNA Impact Wrestling Review for 08-02-12

Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. After being accused of being behind “Aces of Eights”, how will “The Cowboy” James Storm respond to the accusations? TNA World Champion Austin Aries and Bobby Roode continue their feud as Aries teams with Kenny King to face Bobby Roode and the TNA X Division Champion; Xema Ion. Also in a 4 way match, Madison Rayne, Gail Kim, Tara and Mickie James face off to determine who will face Brooke Tessmacher for the TNA Knockouts title at Hardcore Justice. Tonight we have two Bound for Glory Series matches as Bully Ray vs. Robbie E. and in the main event; “The Cowboy” James Storm vs. Kurt Angle. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Austin Aries & Kenny King defeat Bobby Roode & Xema Ion

Bully Ray pins Robbie E. in a Bound for Glory Series match

Madison  Rayne beats Tara, Gail Kim & Mickie James to become the Number #1 Contender for the TNA Knockouts title

Chavo Guerrero defeats Kid Kash

“The Cowboy” James Storm pins Kurt Angle in a Bound for Glory Series match

 No Impact

Well we finally saw Devon, the TNA TV Champion and the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions; ODB and Eric Young last night. The problem is that neither of them defended their titles on the show. This is the fourth time in a row which Devon has not defended the TV title. I could go on and on but I’ll spare you all the agony. TNA, start having matches where Devon is defending the TV title!

The baby shower segment is a segment that I really wished that I could get back the seven minutes of my life that that wasted. “Claire” has to be the second worst actor that I have ever seen in professional wrestling, worst than Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly. The segment failed to build more heat for the feud between AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels with Kazarian as AJ wasn’t even at the Impact Zone. The segment would have had more meaning if AJ had been there to run down to the ring and confront Daniels and Kaz. Oh, by the way Christopher Daniels; “The Model” Rick Martel called and wants his scarf back.

Are you kidding me TNA, Joseph Park is now legally representing talent? Why do I see this angle going down hill and being worst than the Joseph Park vs. Bully Ray feud. Please TNA, end the madness and get rid of Joseph Park. Bring back Abyss!

TNA, please go ahead and end this stupid storyline with Madison Rayne and Earl Hebner. The storyline has just started and already sucks. I understand that you needed to make Madison the #1 contender to the Knockouts title as you are going to have Madison face Brooke Tessmacher at Hardcore Justice but not this way. If Earl Hebner screws Brooke Tessmacher out of the Knockouts title then I got two words for TNA; PIPE BOMB!

The Bully Ray vs. Robbie E. match was really just a squash match to allow Bully Ray to move up on the scoreboard in the Bound for Glory Series. Robbie E. is not a bad wrestler; I just don’t see him being in the main event picture. I think that TNA should either put Robbie back into the X Division title picture or put him and Robbie T. into the tag team scene.

High Impact

Oh my God, tonight’s Bound for Glory series match; James Storm vs. Kurt Angle was beyond awesome. The way Storm held on while Angle had Storm in the “Angle Lock was amazing. I think that having TNA stars around the ring added to the excitement. I was glad that TNA went with a clean finish on this one as now it makes you wonder what direction the TNA title picture is going. The only thing that I didn’t like during this match was TNA taking a commercial break, coming for ten seconds and then goes to break again. Despite that, this was a damn good match

That’s how you start off Impact Wrestling TNA as the end credits for the show before Impact Wrestling; there was a squeeze back showing the confrontation between Aries, King, Roode and Ion. This lead into the brawl to the ring as Impact Wrestling started. The match itself was great with King showing fans that are not familiar with him like myself what he can do in the ring. The match in my opinion is setting up Ion vs. King for the X Division title as Hardcore Justice which I think will be a good match. I also like the tension between Roode and Aries during this match which makes me dying to see them go at it at Hardcore Justice.

Chavo Guerrero looked great tonight as he took on Kid Kash in his debut match on Impact Wrestling. It was cool for TNA acknowledge the Guerrero family during Chavo’s match. The fans in the Impact Zone were really behind Chavo so it looks for now, Chavo is going to be a face. Personally I think that Chavo is better as a heel but no doubt in my mind that Chavo will be either be the TNA X Division or TV Champion in the near future. Kid Kash was the right opponent for Chavo’s debut match and Kash showed that he can still go with the best.

Finally TNA realizes that they shouldn’t have a man holding a women’s title. I like the fact that ODB said that she and Eric Young haven’t defended the Knockouts Tag Team titles in several months. The last time that ODB and Young defended the titles was at Lockdown against Sarita and Rosita. I wished that TNA would put the Knockouts Tag Team title either on Sarita and Rosita or Tara and Mickie James.

Speaking of the Knockouts, the four way match to determine who would face Brooke Tessmacher at Hardcore Justice was very good. Tara proves time and time again why she is still one the best female wrestlers even at the age of 41 and is the toughest Knockout in TNA. I like the fact that at points in the match Gail and Madison got into each other faces. Also my girl; Mickie James was on fire and had the crowd behind her during the match. Also Mickie looked damn hot in those Mickie Duke shorts. Brooke Tessmacher did a ok job at the announcer’s table but you could tell she wasn’t comfortable doing it. I still think that it would be better to see Tara vs. Brooke Tessmacher at Hardcore Justice.

Show Rating: 8 1/4 out of 10

Final Thoughts

Tonight’s Impact Wrestling was damn good overall despite the things that I gave “No Impact”. All the matches with the expection of the Bully Ray vs. Robbie E. were great and most of the promo segments were decent. I think that TNA hit it on the head the way they started off Impact Wrestling tonight and they should keep doing this. I love how TNA kept throwing hints that James Storm is behind “Aces of Eight” and they added more hints by not even having “Aces of Eights” actually make an appearance. Next week should be even better with three Bound for Glory Series matches; AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle, The Pope vs. RVD & Bully Ray vs. James Storm
