Making An Impact: TNA Impact Wrestling Review for 07-26-12

Making An Impact

With Billy James

Welcome to “Making An Impact” review for TNA Impact Wrestling. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James with the fallout from Impact Wrestling. With Impact Wrestling ending last week with the beat down of both Austin Aries and Bobby Roode; who is behind “Ace of Eights”? Dixie Carter announced earlier in the day that she has found  someone to temporary  run TNA while Hulk Hogan is out. Who will be in charge of TNA? Also tonight is the Impact Wrestling debut of Chavo Guerrero Jr. What will Chavo have to say to the fans in the Impact Zone? Will AJ Styles make a statement about the revealing pictures that “Claire” produced as proof that AJ is the father of her unborn child? Tonight we have two Bound for Glory Series matches as “The Cowboy” James Storm vs. AJ Styles and in the main event; Bully Ray vs. Kurt Angle. So let’s get started by asking yourself this one question? “Are you ready to feel the Impact?”

Matches

Madison Rayne & Gail beat Mickie James & Tara

Doug Williams pins Gut Check Contestant; Sam Shaw

Bound for Glory Series match: “The Cowboy” James Storm vs. AJ Styles ends in No Contest

Xema Ion retains the TNA X Division title against Kenny King

Kurt Angle pins Bully Ray in a Bound for Glory Series match

No Impact

I’m not even going to waste my time on this one but once again no TV Title match on tonight’s Impact Wrestling. What’s the point of having a TV title if it’s not going to be defending on TV? I just don’t get it as to why TNA stop promoting the TV title? Well, I guess on the bright side, at least the TV title has been defending more than the Knockouts Tag Team titles.

After being attacking before his match last week; Gut Check Contestant Sam Shaw got another shot as he face Doug Williams tonight. The match was ok and Doug Williams was just awesome but I just was not impressed with Shaw. Also TNA had Joey Ryan in the audience which would have worked better if we actually had seen him on our TV where we could tell it was him. I personally think that it’s a waste of time to give Shaw a TNA contract when all TNA is going to do with Shaw is sending OVW; their development territory.

This really doesn’t have to do with last night’s Impact Wrestling but with TNA in general. As everyone properly knows by now, Velvet Sky is no longer in TNA. This is a major blow to the Knockouts division as Velvet was one the most popular Knockouts on the roster. I had hoped for a feud between Velvet and Mickie James but that’s not going to happen now. For more of my thoughts about Velvet’s release from TNA, check out my latest PIPE BOMB!: What The F@UCK? Velvet Sky Gone From TNA?

High Impact

Again, tonight’s Bound for Glory series matches were awesome. Both matches had so many near falls I had a hard time keeping count of all of the pin falls. Both matches kept it you on the edge wondering who was going to win. I really like the fact that these matches shows how important the Bound for Glory series is. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that the Storm vs. Styles match ended in a no contest due to the interference of the “Aces of Eights”. Next week, we get the match that was supposed to happen last week; “The Cowboy” James Storm vs. Kurt Angle.

Yes, we had the Knockouts back in action in a match tonight as Madison Rayne & Gail Kim faced Mickie James & Tara. Overall the match was very good and I like the chemistry between Mickie & Tara as they worked very well with each other during this match. I wouldn’t mind seeing Mickie and Tara being the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. Mickie would then really have held every major Women’s title known to Woman kind. I’m still not such where this Earl Hebner\Madison is going but I personally think that this angle is stupid and I pray that ends very quickly.

Wow, I was impressed by Kenny King tonight. King can really go in the ring and he dominated Ion during several points of the match. I actually thought that certain points during the match, TNA was going to put the X Division title on King. I think that TNA might be starting a feud between King and Ion as King will team up with Austin Aries next week as they will face Xema Ion and Bobby Roode. Don’t be surprise if we get rematch between Ion and King for the X Division title at Hardcore Justice.

I don’t know about everyone else but I like the idea of Chavo Guerrero Jr. being in TNA. Chavo has also been a fine wrestler who really hadn’t the chance to shine in the WWE as Chavo never got a run with the WWE US or Intercontinental titles. I think that’s it’s interesting that TNA has decided to have Kid Kash feud with Chavo but Kash is a damn good wrestler so the matches between Kash and Chavo will be great.

Again the “Aces of Eights” were at it again as they attacked AJ Styles and Kurt Angle. Adding more intrigue is that Roode claims that James Storm is behind the “Aces of Eights” as they didn’t attack Storm last week or this week. I like the mystery behind the “Aces of Eights” as TNA keeps throwing “Red Hearings” at us as to who is behind “Aces of Eights.” Personally, I say that Jeff Jarrett is the one who is behind the “Aces of Eights.”

Show Rating: 8 3/4 out of 10

Final Thoughts

Tonight’s Impact Wrestling was just off the charts as we had five matches that at least two star matches. Most of the show dealt with the action in the ring and the backstage promos that where in the show were good. I liked the fact that TNA showed tonight they can still do the payoff match between Roode and Storm without the TNA title being involved. So with that said, it shows that anyone can win the Bound for  Glory Series. Next week’s show should be good as we already have three matches set as Kenny King teams with Austin Aries to take on Xema Ion and Bobby Roode. Also in a four way match determine who will challenge Brooke Tessmacher for the TNA Knockouts title as Hardcore Justice; Mickie James vs. Tara vs. Madison Rayne vs. Gail Kim. Finally, “The Cowboy” James Storm faces Kurt Angle in a Bound for Glory Series match.

Star of the Night: Kurt Angle, James Storm, Bully Ray & James Storm
