Welcome to Make Me a Superstar by Andrew B as we look at this week’s episode of Superstars. This week “Mr. No Day Off” Darren Young will battle Epico. Plus in our opener Kofi Kingston is in action. In the main event Heath Slater will battle Kane. So let’s look at the Bad & Good this week on Superstars.
- Kofi Kingston on Superstars:
It’s not that I don’t like Kofi because I do it’s just that him being on Superstars makes him feel like a mid-card talent. I know he is a mid-card talent but it feels like that is all he has done his career. Yes he did have a great match this week but he needs to be focused more on Raw or SmackDown.
2: PTP vs. Epico & Primo Feud Gets Superstar Treatment:
Having AW turn on Epico & Primo at No Way Out was big in the steps of creating tag team feuds within the tag team division. Then they feuded on Raw & SmackDown but by putting them on Superstars not many people will see that match as right now about only 8800 people have watched this week’s Superstars on WWE’s YouTube Channel. They need to have this match on one of the TV shows.
- The Match Of The Night:
The easy choice for MOTN was Michael McGillicutty vs. Kofi Kingston and I would even call this the best match MM has ever had. MM has shown improvement working with Tyson Kidd and then on this week’s Superstars he delivered with Kofi Kingston. It was a good back and forth match that got 16 minutes which is more than most TV matches. MM grounds the high flying Kofi Kingston but in the end Kofi wins with a Trouble in Paradise. I would give this match *** ½ out of 5.
- Tag Team Wrestling is Back:
I must be dreaming because tag team wrestling is alive and well in WWE after TNA had the better tag team wrestling for years the rolls have been switched. The current tag teams are
- The Usos
- Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel
- Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks
- Epico & Primo
- Camacho & Hunico
- Kofi Kingston & R Truth (?)
- Ascension (when they pushed up to the main roster)
There are 6 teams on the roster now and that’s not counting the tag team champs. This week on Superstars we had a good tag team match between Hunico and Camacho vs. The Usos plus Epico battled Darren Young. Right there you can see four teams were featured in two matches on Superstars. I have a good feeling about the Tag Team Division in the future.
- Have Big Names on the Show:
When Superstars first started there were big names on the show like John Cena, Big Show, Chris Jericho, and Undertaker & Shane McMahon but now it is mostly mid-card talents but we got a special treat this week as the main event featured Kane. Kane battled Heath Slater but the match was basically one sided with Kane in control.
Kofi Kingston pinned Michael McGillicutty – *** ½ out of 5
Darren Young defeated Epico – ** ½ out of 5
Usos defeated Hunico &Camacho – *** out of 5
Kane defeated Heath Slater – * ½ out of 5
Well there you have for this week’s Superstars until next week stay cool everybody.
