Andrew B’s Wrestling Rewind: WWE No Way Out 2007

Hi everyone Andrew B here to take a look at No Way Out 2007. The event took place in the Staples Center and featured three title matches, and only two single matches with one ending clean and one of the biggest tag team matches of all time. We saw King Booker battle Kane. Also Lashley and Mr. Kennedy square off for the ECW title. So let’s take a look at the event.

 

The event starts with a video package followed by the pyro and our announcers are Michael Cole & JBL.

 

Match 1: MVP & MNM vs. Chris Benoit & The Hardy Brothers in a 6 Man Tag:

The match starts with Mercury and Matt Hardy. Mercury takes control as the heels work on Hardy tagging in Nitro then MVP. Hardy fights back as Benoit is in the ring with MVP. MVP is in control but Benoit fights back with huge chops and MVP goes to tag MNM but they are scared and hop of the apron. Benoit is in control over MVP hitting him with a snap suplex for a two count. Jeff Hardy gets tagged in and gets poked in the eye by MVP as he tags in Nitro. Nitro is in control as the LA crowd is behind Jeff. Jeff fight back but Nitro then slaps Jeff in the face and Nitro runs outside with Jeff following him. Jeff tries to go back in the ring but Mercury throws him into the security wall. Nitro then takes control over Hardy as the crowd is behind Jeff. Jeff tries to fight back but Mercury kicks Jeff in the back. The heels then give Jeff Hardy the baby face beat down. The hot tag is made to Matt Hardy who takes down all three heels until MVP hits Matt with a suplex behind the ref’s back. MVP hits the Ballin elbow drop for a two count. MNM works on Matt who gets the baby face beat down. Matt hits a clothesline on Nitro and tags in Benoit. Benoit takes out MNM & MVP suplexing Mercury on MVP followed by a double German suplex on MNM. The Hardys hit the poetry in motion on Mercury followed by the Twist of Fate, Swanton Bomb and Flying Head-butt. MVP goes to hit Benoit with the US title but gets locked in the cross face that Nitro breaks up. MNM goes for the snapshot on Benoit but Matt stops it and Benoit locks Mercury in the cross face and Mercury taps out.

Winners: Chris Benoit & the Hardy Boys

We then see Kristal backstage with Vickie Guerrero. Vickie looked ugly back then but Vickie says she has been soul searching and she says she has an announcement to make on the next SmackDown.

 

We then see Finlay backstage with Hornswoggle and Hornswoggle is flipping out because he is scared of Little Boogeyman. He then says little people are scary but Finlay gives him a hug to calm him down and throws him in the dumpster but Little Boogeyman is in there and Hornswoggles runs away scared.

Match 2: Gauntlet Match For The Cruiserweight Title:

The people in the match are Funaki, Daivari, Scotty 2 Hotty, Gregory Helms, Jimmy Wang Yang, Chavo Guerrero, Shannon Moore and Jaime Noble. The match starts with Scotty 2 Hotty and Daivari and Daivari is in control. Scotty fights back and ends up hitting the Worm for the elimination. Scotty’s next opponent is Gregory Helms and Helms is in control beating down Scotty in the corner. Helms works on the neck on Scotty as the crowd is rooting for Scotty. Scotty goes for the Worm but Helms grabs his leg and Scotty’s throat hits the bottom rope and Helms hits Scotty with a code breaker for the elimination as Funaki is the next guy out. Funaki goes for a cross body but Helms rolls him through and holds the tights to get the three count in about 25 seconds as Shannon Moore is out next. Helms and Shannon brawl outside of the ring. They enter the ring and Moore pins Helms for a two count. Helms hits Moore with a belly to belly suplex off the top rope and then a code breaker for the elimination as Jimmy Wang Yang is out next. Yang takes control over Helms and levels him with punches in the corner and a thumb to the eye followed by a near fall. Helms fights back but Yang rolls up Helms for the elimination but after the match Helms attacks Yang as Jaime Noble is the next man out. Noble is over control over Yang and hits him with a hard chop. Noble then hits a neck breaker for a two count. Yang tries to fight back but runs into the ring post as Noble puts Yang in a sleeper hold. Yang fights out and hits an atomic drop followed by a few clotheslines. Noble goes for a superplex but Yang counters and hits the moonsault for a three count as the match is over and Yang is champion. Wait OH Chavo is heard and Chavo is a surprise entrant as he works on Yang. Yang hits a cross body on the outside of the ring and then goes for a missile dropkick in the ring but Chavo counters and hits Yang with the three amigos. Chavo then goes for the frog splash but Yang counters and hits a hurricanrana off the top rope. He then goes for the moonsault but Chavo crotches him but then pushes Chavo off and goes for the spinning moonsault and misses as Chavo hits Yang with a frog splash to win the title and the match.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Match Rating: ** 3/4 out of 5

 

They then show a promo for WrestleMania 23 which was pretty good but not one of the better manias. Then Kristal is backstage with John Cena. Cena then says that Kristal looks concerned about him teaming with Shawn but he not concerned. He then says that HBK and he are tag champions but it does not mean anything is because he is not HHH. He then says he is concerned about battling Batista and Undertaker not about his partner, HBK.

 

Match 3: Hornswoggle & Finlay vs. Boogeyman & Little Boogeyman:

The match starts with Boogeyman and Finlay in the ring and Finlay takes a cheap shot and takes control but Boogeyman hits Finlay with a fireman carry and takes control. They brawl on the outside & Finlay gets thrown into the barricade as they go back in the ring. Little Boogeyman hits multiple splashes on Finlay and then eats some worms as Hornswoggle wants the tag. He enters the ring and puts his hat on Finlay and takes off his jacket. Finlay then kicks Little Boogeyman and Finlay is just having his way with Little Boogeyman. Finlay throws him out of the ring and Horny brings Little Boogeyman under the ring and when Finlay lifts the apron Boogeyman is under their and Finlay is in control over Boogeyman. Boogeyman is fighting back and launches Finlay into the top turnbuckle and then hits him with a corner splash. He then throws Little Boogeyman onto Finlay and pins Finlay for a two until Horny breaks it up. Boogeyman is stalking Horny and chases him into the crowd and Finlay hits Little Boogeyman with his shillelagh for the win.

Winners: Finlay and Hornswoggle

Match Rating: 3/4 * out of 5

 

We then go backstage where Kristal is with HBK. HBK says he can’t trust John Cena and that he can only trust HHH. He then says he did say he would watch Cena’s back so he can be healthy at WrestleMania.

 

Match 4: “The Big Red Machine” Kane vs. King Booker with Sharmell:

The match starts with Kane forcing Booker into the corner and then works on him with elbows and punches. Booker tries to run but Booker gets pulled back by his hair. Booker tries to fight back but gets thrown back into the corner for another beating. Kane is in control but Booker pokes him in the eye but Kane throws him back into the corner but then runs into an elbow and Booker runs into a back breaker. Booker then rolls on the apron and hangs Kane but then walks into a choke slam. Booker counters but runs into a big boot followed by a clothesline over the top rope. Booker fights back and slams Kane’s face on the steps. They are back in the ring and Booker hits Kane with a missile dropkick for a two count. Booker then takes control working on Kane’s left arm. Kane fights back and hits Booker with a big boot & then the flying clothesline off the top rope that Booker countered. Booker then takes control but Kane tries to fight back unsuccessfully. Booker levels Kane with chops in the corner and then goes for a suplex but Kane hit Booker with a suplex instead. Booker and Kane trade punches until Kane gets the upper hand and goes for the chokeslam but Booker counters and goes for the scissors kick and misses as Kane hits a clothesline with both men down. Both men are back up and Kane takes control hitting Booker with punches in the corner followed by a side slam. Kane then goes to the top rope and hits the flying clothesline. Sharmell hops on the apron which draws Kane’s attention and Kane walks into a kick to the head. Booker then goes for the scissors kick but misses and Kane hits the chokeslam for the win.

Winner: Kane

Match Rating: *** out of 5

 

We then see Kristal backstage with Batista. Batista says that in the main event it is raw vs. SmackDown & SmackDown will beat up on Raw. We then see a video of Undertaker giving a chokeslam to Batista on Raw. Batista then says he is not scared of Cena, Undertaker, HBK or anyone.

 

Match 5: Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. Deuce & Domino for the WWE Tag Titles:

The match starts with London & Domino. They start shoving and then Domino takes control but gets slapped and pie faced from London. London takes control & tags Kendrick. Kendrick hits an arm drag and tags London in as Domino runs in and gets tosses out. They then double dropkick Domino out of the ring. Domino runs into a drop toehold from London as Deuce gets tagged in and takes control of London. They show Domino with a bloody nose as they double team London. Domino works on London and hits a body slam for a near fall. Deuce gets tagged in and London fights back but Domino rams his back into the corner. Deuce then trash talks Kendrick and goes back to working on London and then tags in Domino as London is taking the baby face beat down. London tries to tag Kendrick but Deuce and Domino stop it. London fights out and Kendrick comes in taking out both men. Deuce levels Kendrick with a right hand and Deuce and Domino go for the Doomsday Device but Kendrick rolls up Deuce and Domino misses and Kendrick gets the win on the roll up.

Winners: Paul London & Brian Kendrick

Match Rating: ** 3/4 out of 5

 

We then see a video package on Bobby Lashely’s past. We then see Kristal backstage with Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy says that Lashley is similar to the people in LA and that they are phony wanna bees. He then says that the people in the crowd came to LA to become rich and famous but they did not make it. He then said he had a dream like the fans but they are paying to watch them. He then says he already defeated Lashley before and that tonight he will be ECW champion. He then goes to do his intro but Lashley comes up and Kennedy goes to punch him but Lashley counters and punches him.

 

Match 6: Bobby Lashley vs. Mr. Kennedy for the ECW Championship:

Kennedy attacks Lashley from behind on his way to the ring. They brawl in the entrance way with Lashley beating down Kennedy. They brawl outside the ring and then Lashley throws Kennedy into the ring. Lashley uses his power to have his way with Kennedy throwing him around the ring. Kennedy tries to run away but Lashley gets him and they brawl on the outside. Lashley throws Kennedy in the ring but gets poked in the eye as Kennedy takes control. Lashley goes to charge Kennedy in the corner but Kennedy moves but Lashley stops and then levels Kennedy with a huge clothesline and suplex. Kennedy fights back and takes control in the corner but then gets hit with a clothesline by Lashley. Lashley puts Kennedy in the torture rack but Kennedy fights out by poking Lashley in the eyes. Kennedy then levels Lashley with a kick to the face and then gets a two count. Kennedy starts to work on the leg and ankle of Lashley using submission moves. Lashley tries to fight back and goes for a suplex but the leg won’t support it and Kennedy takes control again. Kennedy hits a nice dropkick to the leg for a two count followed but Lashley fights back with punches. He goes for a belly to belly but Kennedy counters and hits DDT for a two count. Kennedy locks Lashley in a one legged Boston crab but Lashley fights out but then gets hit with a Samoan drop from Kennedy. Kennedy then goes for a Kenton Bomb but Lashley gets the knees up and then hits a belly to belly suplex. Lashley fights back hitting a T Bone suplex and then locks Kennedy in the torture rack turned into a back breaker for a two count. Kennedy fights back hitting a neck breaker and then there is a ref bump and the ref is down. Kennedy grabs a chair and hits Lashley in the back. Lashley then grabs the chair and levels Kennedy as the ref is back up. Kennedy then runs away as Lashley hits Kennedy multiple times in the back with the chair.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy by Disqualification – Bobby Lashley Retains the Title

Match Rating: ** ¼ out of 5

 

We then see the trailer for Stone Cold’s movie The Condemned. Cole then interviews Vinnie Jones who is an actor from the move The Condemned. He is in the crowd and he says he is the star of the movie not Stone Cold and he says he could kick Stone Cold’s ass.

The Miz then comes out and he says he is the host of the Diva Talent show. The first act is a very sexy dance from Brooke Adams (From TNA), Layla and Kelly Kelly. Then Jillian comes out and starts singing her theme song until Miz tell her to stop because she is bad. Jillian then says no one in this building knows talent and that Layla, Kelly and Brooke could not even be her back up dancers. Jillian then says she has more talent that all the divas and starts mocking them. She then calls all the Divas Talentless Bitches and then a brawl between Maria, Jillian, Candice, Brooke, Layla, Kelly Kelly and Ariel breaks out until it is broken up. Ashley then comes out and shows her Playboy covers which came out on my 13th Birthday but I did not get it. She then takes off her shirt and shows nothing under their expect two bunnies drawn on her breast. Miz then says Ashley is the winner of the Diva Contest but the real winners are the fans. Boy I miss TV 14 WWE.

Then they show a promo for WrestleMania 23 again about being all grown up. We then get the promo for the main event.

 

Match 7: Batista & Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels & John Cena with the Winning Team in the Main Event of WrestleMania 23:

The match starts with Cena and Batista locking up and Batista using his power to take control. Cena fights back but Batista hits a rolling Samoan drop and then a suplex for a two count. Cena fights back and tags HBK in who levels Batista with multiple chops. Batista uses his power to take control and levels HBK with a clothesline for a two count. Undertaker gets tagged in & works on HBK’s arm and then hits Old School. Undertaker then pounds HBK in the corner and goes to splash HBK in the corner but HBK fights back and punches Taker in the corner but gets pushed off and then runs into a kick for two as Batista get tagged in. Batista body slams HBK then goes for a running elbow but misses as Cena gets tagged in and he runs into an elbow from Batista as Undertaker gets tagged in and splashes Cena in the corner. Taker then goes for Old School but Cena crotches Taker on the turnbuckle and then goes for a superplex but gets pushed off. He then goes back up and hits Taker with a superplex. Taker then sits up as Cena runs into a punch from Taker as HBK gets tagged in. HBK hits the flying forearm and then pops up but gets his throat grabbed by Taker. HBK fights out only to run into a power slam that ends up with HBK outside the ring. Batista drops HBK on the steps & HBK is back in the ring. Taker & Batista make tags and work on HBK. Taker runs for a boot in the corner & HBK moves. HBK tries to fight back but Taker regains control and tags in Batista and he works over HBK until HBK connects with DDT out of nowhere. HBK makes the hot tag to Cena who hits the “5 moves of doom” including the leg drop on the back of Batista’s head. Cena clothesline Taker over the top rope and hits the 5 knuckle shuffle on Batista. Cena goes for the AA on Batista but Taker breaks it up as Taker and HBK brawl on the outside. Batista hits a body slam on Cena and goes for the Batista Bomb but HBK breaks it up. HBK & Cena make quick tags and work on Batista. Cena runs into a boot in the corner by Batista but Batista runs into a clothesline from Cena. Batista is bleeding on the top of his nose and he is locked in the STFU but Taker breaks it up. HBK hits the elbow drop off the top rope and goes for Sweet Chin Music but Batista counters and tags in Taker. Taker takes it to HBK & Cena, hitting HBK with Snake Eyes and a big boot. Taker hits splashes on HBK & Cena and goes for a double chokeslam but throws HBK who gets hit with a spinebuster. Taker hits Cena with a clothesline but then Batista hits Taker with a spinebuster. HBK hits Taker with the Sweet Chin Music followed by an AA from Cena for the win.

Winners: John Cena & HBK

Match Rating: **** out of 5

 

The event ends with Batista posing over Taker and then leaves the ring and Taker sits up as Batista is by the entrance way. The show ends with both men looking at each other.

 

Overall:

This WWE PPV was very good and featured solid matches. There were four matches at *** or almost *** level with a solid **** main event. There was no really bad match and that is why I am giving the event a 7 out of 10.
